insurance claim.

Post by howc »

Well.. my car got bumped at the side of the rear bar. Now the rear bar is misalign and scratches the size of a A4 size paper.

the insurance company called me earlier on and they say if the repair cost more than $1500, they will send a assesor down.

actually i have a plan to spend this 1.5k. just wondering if it is possible lol.

my plan is to let the workshop to spray my front bar as well but quote wont show it. possible ?

if not.. then is there any shops that sell new rear bar? i know carmate aint that good after abit of readup.

thanks

what you are talking about wont be well recieved in the club.

that said,

you will be hard pressed to find a repairer willing to 'do the dodgy' with an insurace company cause it just isnt worth the crap they could get for it.

unless you know someone, that dodgy panel beater will most likely do a dodgy repair on your car, but having been through several repairs in the past i could do a rough quote for you but it wont be over 1500...

bumper remove and replace 150
paint shop 450
environmental charge 100
labour 4-500

if its just the paint youll have a hard time but if its bent the mounts or something you might have a better chance...

good luck

yea i know its not a good thing to do but just a thot of mine.

anyway, the bumped made the rear bar misalign with the body now. The side is protruding out so i guess i'll hope they will change to a new rear bar. Now just need to know which shop sells quality rear bar?

thanks.

I had a similar accident to this not a long time ago, a small dint in both the boot lid and rear bumper the size of a fifty cent piece. The panel beater quoted $2300 and the insurance had no choice but pay, once their assessor saw the colour of my fto he probably though "I give up, take the money". It took my panel beater a few days to re-create my fto's colour but it turned out perfect.

  @ the assesor part.

yours must be a custom paint job lol.

went thru dmd's website and most of the picture shows front bar only. wonder if there is any nice rear bar. and i dont really like the VS rear bar shown in dmd website.

I also got my passenger rear side bumped last week. What car insurance are you from?? My rear bar is also misaligned with no dents on it. The panel beater which I am going to charges me about 300 to get it painted up. And there were no dents to the rear bar so it wouldn't need to be replaced. I reckon 1500 is a bit too much.
