Whining noise when accelerateing

Post by Danielk »

Hi guys

Whenever i step on the accelerator, it starts making a whining noise. goes louder each time i step harder, even when i stay on maybe 3k revs, the sound stays the same untill i let go of the accelerator gradually.

Sound is so annoying!

I had a minor service maybe 1 1/2 weekes ago at Maytech, it was fine before that..and now it also has a bit of oil leak (few drips every 2 days?) which didint happen before the service aswell, was my first 5000km service aswell.

Any ideas on the whining noise?

Most whining noises under acceleration are usually coming from the misses in the passenger seat

 nice one.

My one whines (or whistles more likely) when its under acceleration but its the air intake sucking in the air so its nothing bad, yours could be a wheel bearing or a bearing of some sort probably shitting itself

Gee, whining is an understatement for my girlfriend. Screaming is more appropriate. Accelarating to 60kmh in second gear - "Oh my god Daniel slow down you're going to kill us!!"

Haha, sounds like my girl.. I have a video from the cruise on the weekend that I'll have to post up when my internet isn't capped anymore.. she's screaming like a crazy & yelling when she notices me hitting *edit* only 60kph .. because I wouldn't go any faster than that, ever. *:P lol

Oh, & I'll have to post up the driving video's we took on the mountain run as well

Danielk let us know how you go getting this fixed.

I've got a similar noise that I can't hear if I have a pod on but can only hear when the standard intake is on and the windows are up. I've checked the intake a few times and every pulley bearing I can but can't find the source of the noise.

Could be tappets. If you had a really thick oil in before, and they put in a lighter weight oil, that would definitely bring the tappets sound out. It can sound like a whine under acceleration, my old car did that.

I got a similar whining noise problem went I rev or accelerate between 0 and 3k rpm, anything passed that the noise is not apparent. I got that noise in the morning, parked the car..got back to the car after work. the car won't start and the battery was dead.

Lucky I've parked on a hill so I can do a rolling jump start...

The source of the noise was from the alternator..

I seem to have a similar whining sound especially when I accelerate, but in my case, it seems to be there when the air conditioner is on....

Whinig noise...

Post by BaronCell »

Hello, i have a problem with a whining noise that i hadn't before a few weeks. And i did nothing to the car. As i accelerate it gets louder, especially from 2rpm - 4rpm. before or after that everything sounds ok. I DON'T trust the mechanics in my country. They know Sh...t trust me i know. So My FTO from now on is in my hands...and a friends who knows some things. Any help would be apreciated. Is it posssible i have a small hole close to the manifold or further to the end if it?

most likely powersteer or alt belt mate ;)

a leak in intake or manifold would get louder as you rev more
