Tried to use galant or gto alterator in fto and failed big

Post by Benedict_XIII »

just bought a second hand alternator and tried to rebuild it myself it was out of either a galant or a gto the part number was md327515 very similar to the fto md317515 so i thought it would be ok, now i pretty much swaped the guts from the new one into the shell of my old one fit perfectly but now nothing works it starts but isnt charging

i was wondering if it might be something else like the four pin plug what does that go to an external regulator im stumped ive also replaced brushes as well

also it is the same four pin plug

if you have a GPX, you need a Mivec alternator .. the FR terminal on the GPX alternator sends a signal back to the ECU to let it know if it is okay to kick it up a notch into Mivec.

as for it not charging .. I'd say it has something to do with being cannibalised .. might not like it much ;)

Might be a better chance of fitting an Eighth Gen Galant which came with a 2L v6 6a12 Mivec engine - which I guess would be the same as an FTO?
