vafc gains

Post by efteoh »

anyone have opinons/ideas of the gain from a VAFC and a MIVEC converter?
aparently it adjusts the hi and low cam, so seems to do a bit more than a SAFC.

thanks

depending on the car AND (this is a BIG AND) the person who tunes it (i.e. are you prepared to pay for proper dyno tuning???) about 6-8kW

well, its going on a fto gpx, and the usual, air filter, im just wondering if its worth getting a vafc and the $100 or so on the converter, or simply a safcII (the 2nd blue screen version)

seeing as the 6a12 are so highly tuned, im debating wether or not electronic mods can squeeze any more kW, or most importantly torque.

well if you decide you want one i can get you one for about 550.00, you will need to source the mivec adapter.

I think mikey's is the older type (non-blue screen) but for $50 its still bloody cheap as i've seen them on other forum for $100-150

sory, i should elaborate - mine is not a VAFC.. it's 'just' an AFC - it' soooo goddamned old, even the manufacturer themself no loner has the user manual for it LoL... so no bluescreen or whizbang gimmicks, just a knob to twist and some nice LED bars to look at as you turn the knob haha...

seeing that the 1kw gain was using the OLD afc, maybe more might be gained with the newer gen afc and the addition of the VTEC YO!!!!! settings.

anyone here at all ever installed a vafc and the mivec converter?

did you mean a MIVEC controller?? if so, i wouldn't bother with it unless you have MAJOR things done to the induction side of things (exhaust + filter + head porting + cams + extractors + ECU).

But yeah, i think the S-AFC or V-AFC (can't remember which LoL) will give you good returns since it allows flexible adjustments to your fuelling needs...
