would it be possible to put an RX7 or similar engine in an FTO? something that will match the sexy looks of the FTO with some high end performance, while still being street legal...

Anything is possible ... Just takes cash and custom fabrication...

I know there were mounts and cross members made for an AE86 to have a 20b put into it .... So who knows ...

RX7, RWD
FTO, FWD
RX7 engine bays are as craped in RWD fashion as FTOs are in FWD.
It would take a lot of work to make the rotary fit.
and it's pointless going N/A, they're gutless, you'd need to go TT, and that's even less room to move.

IMO, buy an RX7, they're not that far off in the looks department.

But hey, I'm all for being different.. I turbo'd my Magna..

IMO rx7 looks hotter then fto, but still very similar. if you want its engine just buy an rx7.

Where do i start with this one

1) Rotary engines are tiny compared to the fto engine so fitting one would be no drama (if you had a massive wad of cash). and the boys here at Dison rotary will be able to help you with everything. Just recently they put a 21B in a 350Z
2) The RX7 (batmobile) Is just as sexy (or atleast very very close ;) ) as the fto so why bother. Just buy the RX7.
3) If you want mad HP from a fto (and a lot of disposable income) atleast stay in the family EVO/VR4 it will be a hell of a lot more easier and cheaper.[/quote]

F*cken egg beater in an FTO! Thats awesome!

Biggest headache you'd have is finding a gearbox to mate up to it to drive the front wheels. Most rotor boxes power rear wheels..

Dont let the FWD/RWD get you down. Ive already done that one. My 76 galant was a RWD north south engine and I put a 89 Galant engine in it (FWD east west). Made it all fit. Anything is possible.....

And no, I dont think that question was too dumb. Havent actually seen that one before. However, if youd said 'how do I turbo my FTO' I might have had something to say.

correct, my boyfriend owns a mitsubishi cyborg AWD sedan with a 4g63t from a vr4 in it... it goes very fast, 13.3 second quarter fast and thats with 143kws atw in a car that weighs under a ton its massive power. he just had the motor totally forged and got a haltech also 272 degree in and ex cams... its a weapon now.

ps. the point of my story 4g63t + fto = AWESOME !

I had mine up to 238.1 kw @ the front wheels in the sonata...

Since then, I have upgraded the throttle body, put in the HKS 272 cams and some little things along the way ... Fully rebuilt the engine, with eagle forgies... Now the engine is in my GSR/Evo ... So not sure what it will put out ...

hey im mia's boyfrined :P the one with the cyborg sedan lol.
Its a cb lancer shape except its AWD totally sleeper spec, its very quick, beats a lot of high powered cars such as skylines and supras and all your regular tough man cars... also puts up a huge battle with the more "well known" cars aswell... not so much in a real drag race but on the street it holds its own.
With the work ive had done to the engine now it should be pretty close to 400 - 450hp atw... forged internals 272 cams haltech 20 psi bigger front mount injectors elec. boost controller, only thing stopping me from getting to the 400 - 450 mark is my turbo its only a high flowed evo 3 item good for about 380 at the fly...

also sorry about the thread hijack :P back on topic, an fto with a eclipse 63t like i told mia to write up there would be amazingly quick... it would probably keep up if not beat almost anything in the same weight class... it would be a weapon.
