Idle problems

Post by Conrad »

Hi Guys

My 1995 FTO GR is having trouble idling.

In general, the car is fine. Drives ok. However when I am stationery at lights my idle creeps down slowly until it gets to 100rpm and then dies. The car re-starts easily and away I drive. I need to keep the car idling at lights at around 900rpm manually by putting my foot on brake and accelerator at the same time and this has posed no problems all week. But ideally I would like to fix the problem.

I adjusted the idle control valve in the engine bay....this gave me about 4 days of temporary relief.....and the idle has just found its way back down to 100rpm today and then ultimately stalling the car,

My guess is stepper motor? Any of you guys had this happen to you? If so, what fixed it? and do you have any parts spare?

Love you all :D
