Im in the middle of wiring up my amp and was just wondering if - when you wire the speaker wires up to the amp (i am using new speaker wire) do you run them from the speakers, straight to the amp and not touch the head unit or, do you just splice into the stock wiring that is still connected to the head unit

depends what you are trying to achieve
if you only want subs to run off amp then connect them to amp and amp only

if you want speakers to run off amp connect them to amp and amp only

if you want speakers to run off head unit connect them to that only

so in short +12v to amp
rem (connect from head unit to amp)
rca from head unit to amp
earth from amp to good earth

also make sure earth and +12v are same gauge wire what goes in must come out the same

ok i have edit your post to capture the essence of your question

Wiring speakers is really easy you just have to think of it logically.

What creates the sound? ------- The head unit
What does the amp do? -------- Boost the sound (in laymens terms, i know its a bit more complicated than that)
What lets you hear the sound? --------- The speakers.
What does wire do? --------- Transport the sound

Ok so now we got that out of the way.
Replacing the speaker wire increases quality etc. Now theres no point replacing just a protion of it, you either replace it all or non of it, Cause as soon as the signal hits the factory wire you have lost all the benefit of the new wire........does that make sense?

Im assuming you using the amp for speakers not subs.
So the flow is this
HU --> RCA Cables ----> Amp ---> New Speaker wire ----> Speakers.

The factory wire should be completely discarded

What I've done is

1. Wire the amp to the head unit
2. Wire the sub to the head unit
3. Wire the front speakers to the amp.

That is if u have 3 sets of rca output on yeah head unit. A word of caution though, do not wire yeah front speakers to the the amp if yeah speakers are stock because they are gonna blow in 2 secs. That is all.

why are you not running sub off amp? thatdoes not makes sense i cant see head unit having enough power to run sub effectivly

imo i would run that setup other way round or just have a big enough or another amp to run the whole system properly

And also i just wanna know if the silver wire and bronze wire have different polarity - (eg silver + positive, bronze - negative) something like that.

ah no just depends which connection you put too
so if silver goes to positve output its positive and bronze neg
or ifbronze goes to pos output its pos and silver is neg just make sure they go to corrosponding inputs on speakers or they will not sound right
