Belt worn out sound from the engine bay.
Hello,
I wonder if some one could pin point what the problem is here.
When I turn the high beam on I can hear like a belt worn out sound from the engine bay.
Also when the fan turns on to cool the engine I can hear another similar sound from the engine bay.
Does any one know what this is? Is this really a belt worn out and if so which ones are they?
And perhaps any costs to fix these?
Thank you so much,

Hey guys,
One thing for sure is that it's not the alternator. It hasn't been long since I replaced that. with a brand new one.
And if the alternator was a problem you could tell immediately by the voltmeter.
Now, to me it sounds very much like one of the belt or more than one belt is worn out. But maybe no one's had this problem yet..
Hey Stephen, this problem is some thing I've had for a while but hadn't really gotten to me as yet, but I thought I'll just post this topic and see if any one knows about it..that's all....
But one day I might give you a call and meet up some where and you can have a look as to what I mean...
Thanks,

TimmyD,
Check first that the belt is not to loose, if it is ok then carry out this.
As the drive belt gets older it tends to get smoother on the driven surface, a little trick we use is to put about 3-4 drops of break fluid oil (and use only brake fluid) onto the inside of the belt (the ribbed side).
Do this with the engine stopped, putting the brake fluid on the belt will allow the belt to grip better.

Hello airbornespanner,
How have you been.... How's the garage going?
The sound is as if when ever you accelerate the sound gets louder.
The only thing is though, to me it sounds like some exhaust leaking out from where we replaced with the new exhaust from UAS.. The only thing is after we have replaced it I had my windows open and music on so I didn't know it until the day I was coming back home from the last cruise, when I have all the windows up.
So I am going to replace it back to the old one and see if I still get the sound. If I do then I would know that it's not the exhaust which is really bugging me cause to me it sounds like it's the exhuast.
However, this sound only is there if it's in gear and accelerating.
I don't get the sound if it's in neutral and rev the car...
It's weird....

i found out my noise is to do with the clutch... when i press down on the clutch the noise is gone... has anyone else had this?
my clutch doesnt slip at all, so i wonder whats causing the noise exactly?
perhaps its time to upgrade to an exedy clutch as well

Disrespect is easy. Respect is the difficult road to take.
