Okay, I have disconnected my air con, it is Scotland over here dont ya know, and I am running an electrical power steering pump so I only have one belt running of the crank. Obviously this means I have less power losses from the engine.
Now, I have been looking at power losses through the alternator and I reckon if i get a motor to run it, similar to what I have done with the power steering I could get another few horses to deliver to the front wheels.
My mate in the Performance Nova Club reckons he can do it but has anyone here done anything similar before?
Any sensible advice welcomed

The electric steering pump is a good idea but You’d be better off under driving your alternator by fitting a bigger pulley to it so it won’t spin as fast. its an old hot rod trick to free up a couple of ponies without significantly taxing the charge system. I don’t see why it won’t work on a fto.

cost vs gain potential, IMO, is serously a waste of time money

Just remember the more electric drives you put on , the more power your alternator has to put out to drive them and the greater the load on the motor. So for road use your actualy going to loose kw's. Remember nothing is 100% efficiant.

Lol @ the idea... sounds good but wont work...
It will take more power to spin the alternator then what it will produce... so your entire charging system will fail...
As stated above... lightened pulleys and change the alternator wheel size...
Or just whack on some giggle gas..

Was already on the giggle gas Sam, quite surprised I wasn't shot down immediatly at the stoopid idea of running the alt of a motorFtoSam wrote:Lol @ the idea... sounds good but wont work...

And at the very mention of knowing someone in the Performance Nova Club, unless of course in Australia a Nova isn't the useless piece of Chavvy crap that it is here in the UK
