R-Spec brake pads

Post by Bennoz »

Some of you I told about this at last weekends bonfire, but for those that weren't there, I'll tell you here.

Im having a meeting with the Japanese supplier & Aussie distributor of these new brake pads today. At the end of the day, these pads will be sold through my mechanic at Envy Imports. Im currently building his online shop to compliment his website. We'll be able to order them online & have them freighted direct to you - and Im trying to have "Im an FTO Club member" get you a discounted price :)

Today I'll be picking up 3 sets of pads to test. This particular type of pad Im getting is only 1 type out of the range. This is a 600 degree pad designed for fast road & track use. Now, as most of you know, my brakes are not FTO brakes, so I cant test them! So Im looking for candidates :)

I have a front set for a GPX - which will most likely be tested by aza013

I have a front set for a GR - need a candidate

I have a rear set for any FTO - need a candiadate as well.

Now, this candidate needs to actually use them on a track. I dont just want a street hoon, I need someone who is both a street hoon and an occasional track user - as thats what these pads are suited for. First in first served!

There are also other pads in the range that we'll look into supplying as well. For the more track orientated driver, there is an 800 degree pad as well, there is also a more street suited pad. More details on those to come.

I'll also have more details on price after today too. They are a high quality Jap spec pad, without the high price tag.
By high price tag, you wont be paying the $2-300 you often see on top end Project Mu pads or similar. We tested a number of sets on R34's last week at Oran Park with some great results.

I'm sure there'd be several willing to try. Nice job Bennoz.
Running different pads at one end may screw around with the abs settings though.. not so much a big deal for the street/track stuff but for the hardcore track stuff..

When are trails to begin?
CHRISTIANITY: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

As soon as possible! Got the pads yesterday. Aza & Vip can you PM me delivery details of where you'd like me to send them too.

I might hang on to the rear for a bit yet Steve, as apparently they are trying to source a set of fronts to suit my PBR calipers, so I'll test all 4.

When testing them guys, there's a few steps I'd like you to follow if possible. When you go to the track, do at least a few sessions on your old pads, then change to these new ones - this is so you can get a good comparison. So you'll need to take your tools to the track to change them. Dont forget to bed the pads in BEFORE going for another session on the track - find some space near the track that you can bed them in - then let them cool - then hit the track. I'd also recommend you do a full fluid flush before going to the track & put some good quality DOT5.1 or better fluid in.

After your done, I'll need to get some high res pictures of the pads & how they've worn and if there was any degradation of the material or if chunks came out etc. Also give me your opinion as to how you think they felt. The more info you can give me the better. Ie sh*t when cold, but when warmed up, excellent etc. Just keep in mind, you dont have to utterly destroy them on purpose, just drive as you normally would on the track.

After that, the pads are yours to keep :) After a doing some driving on the street over the following weeks, then let me know how they are working for you on the street.

You all ok with that?

Got some sh*t pics last night of them:
