WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE POLICE

On saturday night I was on way back from local chinese shop around 6:30pm with my tea and missus with a nasty head cold I might add, only to see the party lights come up behind me. I pulled over and this rude butch policewoman came straight up and said give me your licence.
I handed it over and asked what the problem was, she said nothing and then proceded to go back to her car.
Eventually she came back with a tape measure to see how low I was and even the tint window tester to check if they were legal

Everything in that department is absolutly fine so I had nothing to worry I thought

Then she gives back my licence and says where do you live which I replied honestly just over there around the corner. She said wait there and then 5 mins later came back and said to me your exhaust is too loud here is a $250 fine

I replied to her I have had it tested and is below the 95DB limit we have and have just got a new WOF (pink slip I think) it is completely legal, she said I dont care your a nusiance on the road here is your fine

Being pissed off by now I told her once again its legal and are you going to pay for my fine as I wont be, she just ignored me and said your lucky thats all I can get you on

Now the law here states that you can be given a fine for a loud exhaust at the officers discretion but how can that be valid when everyones hearing is different and i'm sure that actual testing equipment is better and more accurate than any cops ears and how can they know when the sound is over 95DB? its crazy

Now I have been pulled over many times and never had one comment or remark about my mods apart from the occasional its a nice car.......
This bitch has really pissed me off because we are having a huge problem in this city with out of control Boy Racers which I am definatly not a part of she has obviously decided that anyone with a nice car should be penalised and must be a boy racer.

Any way I have proof that my car is under noise limit and will get off this ticket but that bitch is still going to make anyone who has some mods life hell

Thats just my two cents and probably a familier story to many of you it just gets to me how they can be a law into their own when they have an issue

Id put in a complaint. Based on what youve said, she had no right to treat you that way. Maybe if she gets a wrap on the knuckles she wont be quite so quick to do it again.

I've never had any problems with the coppers in NZ (quite a nice surprise after living in the UK) but yeah, that's way out of order! Write that letter - never know, might calm the she-dog down a bit.

If you really want to get nasty, write the letter to the minister for transport and ask them to explain why drivers such as yourself are being discriminated against (siting all the details of course). By writing it to the minister, they are legally obliged to look into the matter and respond to your letter.

get her name, rank and details, and write the letter to her commanding officer of the station for harassment/ misuse of authority. Atleast try to f**k her up career wise if you cant do anything else. i got an army Major courtmarshalled and forcibly discharged for harassment.
they have to use the equipment, they cant just judge, or else they could do that to anyone.
probably pissed off at you coz the bitch's missus didnt get the strap on out before her shift.

WHAT F^&Ks me off the most, is this so called "police discretion".... WTF is that, so the police are judge jury and executioner, thats just BS. Now i have a lot of repect for the police but FFS they are doing nothing but causing themselfs trouble (in the long run). The law should be in black and white not this "up to your interetation grey"

write the letter dude...

i once parked in the CBD and the ticket machine wasnt working so i couldnt pay for parking, i write a nice big note on a larger piece of paper on my dash board explaining the ticket machine isnt working.

i come back 2hours later... and i have a fine... and the ticket machine still isnt working... and i look down the road and every has a fine

so i write a letter in and have a go at em...

and i got my fine waived and a letter of apology!

so yeah moral of the story... write the f**king letter

OMFG .. i can't believe she's targeting you as a hoon just because you drive an FTO.. They're not even imports over there, they are a *local production* car, just like any other, so obviously you're being discriminated against purely because of your age.. Cause I'm damn sure that if you were a 40+ year old or something she probably wouldn't have even bothered to check your licence..

have you ever had a speeding fine before?

it's cops like her that give the rest of them a bad name.. 'tis a blatant abuse of power .. write a letter / make a formal complaint at the station / send out a few copies to her superiors or whatever .. if nothing comes of it I'd be taking it further cause you're not the only one that'd be getting harassed like that by her.

We probably need to keep the tone down on this one people. I know there are some strong opinions out there on this one, but it wouldnt do for the club to be targeted. I think a letter is the right way to go.

Yeah have wrote that letter and have emade a complaint to police complaints authority but dont know if can be bothered going any further as might make my life hell too....

and legal height for low car here is 100mm from lowest point of the chassis

And yes cant agree more the law should be black and white no grey areas where one can be judged on the spot

By the way did I say the fine for exhaust here is $250 thats more than average speeding fine and it incurs demerits too!

Nothing to worry about, yoy won't have to pay the fine as there is nothing wrong or illegal about your car.. cops are out there for the wrong reasons.

they ARE out there for the wrong reasons. about a month ago i had a vigilante f*ckhead cop literally try to run me down on my motorbike while i was coming home from the chemist!
so what did i do? i f*cking ran! what the hell do you do in that situation?
i was shitting myself! he was doing that for no reason, i did absolutely nothing wrong and still he thought he had the right to potentially play with my life? f**k that!
