Speaking as a Sydney-sider who's lived here for over 25 years, I have to agree that Melbourne is a better city to live in than Sydney (which is why I've visited the city every year since 2000). Sydney, whilst being the city where everything happens, is too hectic and the crime rate isn't exactly great either. Brisbane is just tooooo laid back for my liking, whereas Melbourne sits just in between the 2. Plus, the folks in Melbs are super friendly, the food exquisite (and affordable!!) and the range of places to shop just awesome. Plus, the roads are wide, well maintained and pothole free (unlike Sydney). Only downer is you have so many goddamn speed cameras and minimal warning signs for them, that you have to slam the brakes once you see the signs!!!
