Differances in fuel
has anyone ever bothered to try dynoing the same car on the same dyno but using differant octane rating fuels? I've heard that as long as your car can run 95 octane (normal unleaded) then putting 98 octane (optimax etc) in doesnt actually make much difference...can the FTO run normal unleaded or is it an expensive drinker ...

You must understand that higher RON petrol does not necessarily make more power in itself.
yes the FTO can run on normal 95RON unleaded but you will not get optimum performance from the car because the ECU will retard its ignition timing to compensate for lower octane.
Consumption wise, i can manage 580-600kms max per tank (with the odd squirts here n' there for spirited driving)

A friendly word of advice, search twice, post once. 
You'll find most of the common topics, such as this, have already been covered. I recommend you do a search and you will find a number of posts and threads which should not only answer your question, but give you even more information.
The short answer is yes, you can run the FTO on normal ULP, and the engine will automatically adjust itself. In the process you will lose some power, not much, but you will lose some.
There's topics covering the use of ULP & PULP, fuel economy and results from dyno tests. Do a search and I think you'll find your answers. If not, post your question again.
