Need help installing HID lights

Post by Digital_Import »

Just got me a pair of HID lights, apparently they are plug and play. So after reading a manual that made no sense and was not even relevent to the paticular product I have im left clueless... Seeking help!
Added a picture of the wiring with the Ballast and the globe, I got no idea what connects where.

Everything only fits in one way. If you can't do this then I ban you from ever doing any wiring.

screw the manual.

plug everything in, as Dr_Jones said, everything only plugs in one way. and the bit left over is where you have to cut the wiring off your existing plug off (the thingo that your head light bulbs go into) and join the wire into your HID.

i'd take a photo of mine, but it's all electrical taped up so cant show you much with it.

just try it, and if it still doesnt make any sense to you at all, cross your fingers that someone that can explain it better than me comes along or someone takes a photo for you :)

There's potential for a thread about anything on FTO Australia

Ok plug furthest right, take the plug that is currently plugged into your bulb and plug it in there. Other end of those wires plugs into the ballast.

Take the two plugs on the left in the pic and plug em into the remaining two in the pic and you should have ignition. No need to cut anything?????

I disagree, on mine the plug that goes to the original headlight fitting could be plugged in either way around.

I thought it could only be one way round till I turned em on and only had one headlight workin.
This was the cause.
Luckily I turned em off straight away and no damage was done.

If your not sure, use a multimeter or test light to check polarity...

All sorted, ended up having to cut wires to get it to work. Couple plugs didnt completely fit into each other and no connection was being made. Thanks guys for all the info. Manual was completely useless
