tiptronic computer

hey just sent my car to the mechanic with a gearbox problem

he told me it looks like the gearbox computer, but hes not sure if he can get a new 1

has anyone else had this problem because im stressing here

any idea how a new computer would be?

if its stuffed i dont know what im gona do

im not sure if thats the problrm yet the mechanic suggested it might be

but ill know for sure by tomorow

is it for a tiptronic?

is it in good working order?

how much you looking for it?

I just went through a big head f#@k with my tip box (seeing as your here, thanx again for tryin to help dstocks).

What are the symptoms?

Might as well pick a few brains for possible causes while your here.
I woulda thought the computer would be pretty reliable, what makes the mechanic think its the box's ECU?

Agreed, the ECU doesn't usually go pop...

Have you tested to see the tip box error codes? (Same way you see the engine ECU codes.)

yeah everything in tha box has been checked top 2 bottom

he said that the car runs tha same with the gearbox computer plugged in or disconnected

OK, that is odd...

Maybe also check the power and earth connections for the gearbox ECU then?
If it's not gettin power it'll be dead in the water.
I tend to suspect wiring issues before the actual components, plus it's easier to check than replacing the ECU.
Fuses would be an obvious one I'd guess he's checked already.
The wiring diagram download will show him which connectors at the ECU to check if he hasn't already.

Otherwise you got me on that one...
