Oh oh.... New engine probs

Quick one...

Done 40kms on the new engine... making a hell of a banging noise... about twice a second... from the front bank... quite loud and solid noise...

any ideas???

mechanic suggested driving it a little to see if it goes..

banging noise as in parts smacking into each other? doesn't sound good whatever it is... don't drive it til you can take it to J&r's..

was it making a noise when you first got it back?

Yeah man i would be parking it and towing it j&r tomorrow. Is it loud? you can get a screw driver and move it round from place to place with your ear on the end of it listening and you should be able to work out where its coming from. the screwdriver acts like those things that doctors use sorry cant remember name to hung ova.

was a cam gear had worked itself loose...

tightened up.. Runs much better now...
