What are these wheels?

Just found these pics on the interweb (first thing google brings up for fto in an image search).

Just wondering if anyone knew what the wheels are. Looks freakin' sweet!
The clear indicators look nice too.

Not sure, but it's a UK licence plate. Try FTO uk if no one here knows.

Yeah just found out. They are 18" Toora 5 Plats with flush valves (according to the site). How big are you allowed to go with rims? They come with 15" standard don't they?

yeh they do.
Legal size is two inches bigger so 17" but you can get away with 19's

20's if you dont like turning

17 or 18's safice though

But you said 17 is as big as you can go legally, so arent you gonna get some fine or something from the fuzz with 18"s? Also ,whats insurance like with 17"s? if it only puts it up a litte than i don't really mind. Looks a hell of a lot nicer with some good rims though. I'm looking to get an fto thats pretty well stock and just put some rims on...

Regardless of rim size, the biggest you can go in overall diametre, including tyre, is 1 inch bigger than stock. So a 16" wheel with a 65 series tyre is probably going to equate to a 17" rim with a 45 series tyre.

Most insurance companies follow that law. If you prang & your wheels are over an 1 inch bigger in total diametre, they wont cover them (or you) depending on the company.

Cops can defect you for it as well.

Depends where you live & what the car looks like.... If its bright pink with the number plate 'ENVY4U", a 5" cannon exhaust, monster blow off valve & you live in Brighton Le Sands... chance are you'll be caught.

I run 18's, live in Sydneys Northside & dont drive like a hoon unless im on a track - never even been pulled over.

Yeah my uncle has some little book he keeps in his glove box so that he can argue his case to the 50 when he gets pulled over with mods and stuff. Hasn't been fined for anything yet. I'll have to find out what the book is.

Down here in VIC it's the outside diameter of the tyre.
I got my car roadworthied with 18's by 35 series. Thats about 3mm smaller in diameter than stock.

I've got a mate who's a NSW cop and is 100% sure the law is 1 inch on stock with tyre choice closest to match rolling diameter of original. That means 'technically' 17" with 45 profile tyres is the biggest you can go.

A bit off topic but also apparently the length of a tube off one of the old breathalysers is the same as the minimal road clearance for a lowered car. Now theres some clever engineering.

biggest increase in rim diameter is 2 inch...

AND

No larger than 1 inch rolling diameter

So no larger than 45 profile in a 17 inch wheel

and

No larger than 35 profile in a 18 inch wheel...

so 215/35/18 (what i have) is perfectly legal.
