I had a slight tapping noise on start up, and we put in the Shell 5w40 ... No more noise, and am pretty happy with it ....

There is a huge thread on engine oil already, so that will help you to decide which oil is best for your driving style.

$60 is pretty cheap compare to Motul and Royal Purple.

There is a lot of threads on this forums about the "tapping noise"
This is your tappets.
If you have a GPX / GPvR they are adjustable ... search you states section for recommended FTO mechanics ...
If you have a GR, your tappets may need to be replaced if they are making excessive noise ...
Changing to a thicker grade oil will only mask the noise, it won't fix the prob ... if that is fine with you then by all means try it ... You can go with whichever oil brand you feel comfortable with, or do some searching through the site to get an idea of what others have used ... everyone will tell you that the one they use is the best ... its all just a matter of opinion ....
I use Motul & I am happy with it...

Motul by itself means nothing to anyone they make good and and lesser oils, the particular type might help him out.
as for Mobil1. nothing wrong with it, good quality in general. If u use the 0W40 the noise might be masked for a while...
From the motul range, 300V & 8100 have ester and would be their better products
