Electric aerials

Post by Mel_star_1 »

Any chance anyone can give me some useful information about how our electric areials work. As i have an auto electrician coming to look at it on monday as mine doesn't work. They said they will have a look at it for me but as they have a lack of information they may not be able to fix it.

I have purchased a new one thinking that mine was stuffed but it still isn't working, i have also had a car audio place look at it and they cant find out why its not working either. So this is my last chance of getting it to work.

Any advice will help, thanks.

might be the head unit not supplying power to the aerial? get the aerial output (whatever its called) checked.
also there should be a relay, fuse or fusible link protecting the aerial's circuit. find that and check it.

Yep, my new one is like that. Thought my aerial was buggered too. Checked the output from the stereo and no power - so I just wired mine up to ACC. It now goes up when I turn the ignition on and down again when I turn it off.

As far as I know the button is only to choose between full and half mast. The head unit should be supplying the 12 volt trigger. That's how mine was.

There is only one aerial wire when hooking up your stereo. If you hook connect the correct wire from headunit to aerial is will work in conjuction with the switch.

My one is hooked up right. Aerial does not go up when stereo is off. If I turn the stereo on and playing a CD is does not go up at all. Turn the radio on, aerial goes to half, push the aerial button it goes to full. Turn radio off and put CD on the aerial goes right down.
