Considering that the annual fee for personalised plus numberplates in NSW is $430, and the number of red NSW FTO owners on the forum (enough, but not heaps), I wouldn't expect anywhere near $1500.
If it were me, I'd pay $100 max, but that's just personal opinion, and my FTO is actually black. Good luck with it though!
