EOI: GPX Engine etc

Post by FtoSam »

Okay i've scored myself a GR engine. Which will be in the car in the next few months. So i thought i'd see how much interest there is here for my trusty GPX engine.
Its not suitable for a turbo as it will get ring blow by from the compression.
Without the Turbo it runs fine. I have spent a good deal of $$ on this engine.
March Last year i bought ($2,200) it to replace my old engine. With 70,000 km on the clock i got it a 100,000km service. Since then I have had the oil changed every 5,000km with mobil1 oils. I also had Joe and Ricks go completely over the engine about 3 months ago, and they fixed an oil leak (the only one) and also replaced all the rubbers and seals (About $1600 worth). It also comes with a Recond. Alternator (Reco'd last april for $600) and Possibly a Reco'd Starter Motor (a week ago for $380). Also has had all the Spark Plugs changed (about 1,000 kms ago).
Im Thinking about $2,000 for the lot. And the probs im having with it now will dissapear when the turbo is removed. Also has only run 5psi for past month or two and has been driven quite carefully 99% of the time due to a boost leak in my intercooler having the engine see no more than 1psi. So has only seen 5psi for about 3 weeks or so.
And since i've been getting blow-by from the turbo, it rarely sees over 4,000rpm.
Not available till i get my new engine ready. And untill then it stays in my garage (As i have been walking to work) and only comes out for shopping or going to mates places..

Just an EOI for now.. Let me know if anyone wants to put dibs on it. :)

Its where the turbo pressurises the air above the piston too much and causes the air to "Blow by" the piston and down to the bottom end. Then this causes the oil catch can to blow smoke whilst boosting.
So i've stayed off boost since it started... because it doesnt look cool at all... lol..
No turbo = no pressre = no blow by.

Well buy a GR engine...
From experience mate. They hold up better for the boost.. Especially if you drop $6k into the engine internals..
