Intercooler on non-turbo???

Post by Pomwa »

Ok so heres a thought......

Sitting here thinking (dreaming!) of what future mods id like to do and the idea of installing an intercooler and pipeing it into the filter box or doing away the filter box and putting a pod on the intake side of the intercooler, thus cooling the air and allowing more in (hot air expands ect...ect) before hitting the block.

Is this feasable, has it been done, would there be any improvment??
Or is this all just a pipe dream....! :?

With N/a you're best off trying to get lots of air in very easily.
Put battery in boot. nice thick pipe from intake to custom air box with a K&N filter. then make your own cold air intake.
Intercoolers are used on turbo's because as the cold air passes the turbo it gets heated up very quickly. because the turbo is red hot.
It also goes therough the intercooler easier due to being pressurised.
My guess is an intercooler will result in a massive decrease in performance.
Correct me anywhere im wrong guys.

yeah intercooler would restrict airflow pretty hardcore and also add unnecessary weight to the car

Once the accelerator is stepped off, the NA Blow Off Valve will generate a sound like a turbocharged vehicle's blow off valve. The sound from the NA Blow Off Valve can be adjusted to be the same as a turbo blow off valve. The NA Blow Off Valve sounds like a real blow off valve in turbo applications. You will not be able to tell the difference on the sound generated between the NA Blow Off Valve & the turbo blow off valve. The sound generated is conspicuous, and will not make one have a second look to ensure if it is genuine.
