Alternator in Melbourne

Post by mivecboy »

My 1995 GPX FTO's Alternator is broke! Got RACV to confirm that. It mightbe the regulator because every now and then my Batt light will flash . Its also making a nasty whinning/Grinding noise when reving that sounds like bearings.

Got a estimate from Lee but seem abit much at $500 all up for a change over.
Rang up few places and been told recondition the alternator is the way to go. However they are not certain about parts & price until its taken off then quote which then means I will have to cop $$$ whatever they ask. Can anyone recommand me a auto electrical workshop or workshop in Melbourne to recondition the alternator? I read in other posts that ppl did it for around $200-$300 including labour but didn't say where.

Any advise is much appreciated
