but they said they have never done tip before so they dont know about it

just to clarify... are you saying that UAS can't give you an indicative price on fixing a torque convertor (even a rough guide as to $X parts and $X per hour labour) or are you saying that they're just not interested in doing it at all?

AU$880 sounds a preety good deal. But what if it is really in good condition.
It is still worthwhile to shop around, considering the tip is a vital part of a car. Even going to toy shop in cardiff (if we r talking about the same place) shouldnt be a problem, at least you can see the stuff and compare them rather than just pick one and buy it. One way to choose a good second tip if you dont really have a clue about it and if the situation permits, is: unscrew the oil sump plug, and see if not much metal debris sticking on it (a little is normal), coz the plug has magnet, and check if the oil is clean and not smell like a bad burn (this can only be done if they have not flushed and cleaned the tip). Again, this is only a simple guide, dont quote me, I am no expert. Bring your mates along who know more about this.

By the way, the tip oil I use is Mitsubishi Spectrum Diamond ATF SP3(as specified in the manual). Some guys in UK use Castrol ATF SP3 and have no problem so far. But i dont want to gamble with my tip and the oil. So, I stick with Mitsi one.
Cost= $35 per 5L. Filter =$39 also from Mitsi.
Full flush will be 7.8L, including running the engine not more than 60 sec, and let the oil out from a disconnected hose (some where in the pipe line). This is better than just normal flush (+/- 5L) coz full flush minimizes contamination with old oil. The result : smooth gear change and better drive.

Sounds OK if you need a gearbox, sounds expensive if all you need is a torque converter
I'd be clarifying which you need first

ok guys so my mechanic pulled out my gearbox but he didnt even take it apart and look at it
so i got pissed off and told a tranny place to come to mechanic and pick it up
after a day this is what they told me that is wrong with my gearbox
the underdrive gear died
second drive gear died
nylon speedo gear died
blown torque converter
i dont even know what they are !
how much do you guys think that would cost me?
because they have no idea coz the manager wasnt in
thanks guys !

Seems like you lost a fair bit when it blew =P
Underdrive gear I think is the gear that connects to the other gears on the drive side.
Second drive = second gear
Speedo gear I think is what it sounds like =P It might actually determine what speed the gearbox is going at, if that had failed earlier, it might have been the cause of the gear box allowing you to goto first from second at such a high speed (Well for first gear )
It appears that when you tried to change gears, it attempted it, but the underdrive gear got jammed back into second gear when it couldn't. And the whole system locked up. Took out the torque converter cause the engine just keep spinning and ripped the vanes to shreads, at the same time, the other gears blew when the wheels tried to make the gears spin =P
Looks like we now know where the weak points of the drive train are (or where it is designed to blow)
Least it didn't take out any CV joints or the diff, that would of been a right royal pain =)
Though, if you have the gear box out, wouldn't hurt to inspect them for any damage, well that's my opinion.
If any of you guys want to put your thoughts in, as always please do.
As usual, I'm running on extrapolated knowledge =)

that price sounds about right for that sort of work (unfortunatley)

That price sounds about right. For the damage that has been done I am surprised there was no fore-warning of it.

what is forwarning ruchi?

Any type of waring that lead you to suspect theres a problem with your gearbox (e.g. unusual noise, or the gear not changing properly.....etc)

oh !
i just realise
before
everytime i downgear to 2nd gear i can hear a "clunk" noise
now i know why !
o wellz !
at least now its rebuilt its perfet condition

Well just make sure you service your gearbox regularly from now on.

...and if you hear any other clunking sounds you get them investigated before it's too late!

i would suspect that your torque converter went after the gearbox seized.... not the other way round

stpehn i think you are right
but really those guys said the torque converters are really weak for the fto

all that i know i have heard from you guys

anywayz !
wish me luck !
