Thanx for the reply Steve. I think I'll wait around a bit longer and keep my fingers crossed that the production mod will work :D . Since I don't have a highflow CAT or CAT back exhaust, I'm hoping that this mod will deliver results on its own. Otherwise, this might give me an excuse to spend more $$$ on my car  .

Hi,

Just wondering if there are any activities happening with this thing?

I mean it seemed like UAS were having a lot of activities to try and get the prototype in production and to get people's money, and now it seems like it's just dead!

What is happening? I know you have asked us to wait but for a proper shop, shouldn't they at least give you feed backs every now and then to let the customers know that they are still working on it? instead of just telling people to wait or get your money back and give you the silence?

What is going on? I would obviously want to wait, but if there are any feedbacks on what is currently happening every now and then!

What is UAS up to?

Or are they just stashing this one to the bottom of their list until further notice? Don't for get they do have our money and it is their responsibilities to keep the customers happy I think and I don't think most of us are happy about this long period of wait....Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Btw, I'm not directing this to any one, just in general about the whole thing so please don't be offended. Sorry if I sound a little blunt, but I think it's been put off for so long...by the time we fit it to the car it'll be time to sell the car...!!! That's what I think...So I thought I'll just say a few words...

Thanks,

:D I'll let Stephen update you all on the full details, but just quickly - the project is still very active. Unique have also been testing the prototype on my car - through December and as recently as this week.

Unfortunatly Stephen is dodging everyone. I have sent him numerous emails and sms messages regarding my deposit. As stephen stated if we would like a refund, we just need to email him. Well, I have about 3 times and it looks like he is dodging the situation. Stephen, you were quite happy to take the deposit but you dont want anything to do with the refund? C'mon mate, lets get the ball moving. I have just had enough of waiting. Stephen, I would appreciate it if you would get this done or at least call me with an explanation why you dont reply to your emails or sms messages.

WAITING

Well....

I do understand where every one is coming from but it doesn't take that long to just drop a line and say it's still in progress or some thing would be nice..

You guys are fine with it as you know it off first hand as they are testing it on your cars, but what about the other bunch of guys who are just waiting for some one to shed some light on them?

So I think it's going to have to work both ways!
One side needs to keep cool and wait and hope some one responsible enough will update every now and then!
The other side should think of others who doesn't know or hear anything about this and have already paid for them should put some kind of feed back every now and then.

I know people are spending a lot of time organising things and trying to make things work but you can't blame some one for wondering what is happening to things when they have already paid for them and don't hear anything from them for months! Now I don't think I'm being unreasonable here....as everyone can see that people are starting to wonder what is going on!!!! More and more every day hoping that this topic is hightlighted every time they visit this topic!

Just a thought!

:D Looks like Steve is really busy at the moment, so I'll give you a quick update on the exhaust. (Hope you don't mind Steve :? )

We trialled the latest design on my car on the 12th & 13th January. (I have a stock '95 GPX tip - well - except for the mags...) The manifold :-
a/ fitted
b/ gave a 4-5 kw gain
Day was warm with 60% humidity - results were (from memory)
85kw - baseline start point
90kw - with exhaust
92.8kw - with airbox opened
I didn't realise that humidity also affects performance.... learn something new every day...

So we have a success - John has had to make quite a few prototypes so far, with adjustments made on angles and pipe size - so it has been a long and expensive process, also with those of us who could spare our cars to be test bunnies..... (I drove a ute for a week!!!)

Those of you with GR's - may have a problem, unless you want to upgrade your exhaust - there is a 1/4inch lip that affects the permormance on the cat back.

John has placed the order for the exhausts so these should start filtering through in zbout 1 - 2 weeks at the latest.......

The gain was further increased when they opened the airbox by approx an extra 2 kw's - so those of us looking at also doing the new air intake pipe with the pod filter should see a bit more than that (my air filters are REALLY dirty - they're on that never ending to do list)...

Steve will let you know when they are actually in.

Cheers

Hi Teania,

Thank you very much for that...

I'm sure you've made a lot of people's day by doing this for us.

I guess it doesn't really matter who updates this topic but as long as some one is doing it every now and then...
And if you get some thing tried on your car, could you guys share it with the rest of the people because we did all pay for it too...
Hope this isn't too much to ask for....
:)

Thank you once again!

We'll keep quite now....
:)

:D Spoke to Stephen last night - he asked me to forward his apologies - his computer systems have gone.... well.... they're not working at the moment so he isn't getting PM's or emails.. while he's trying to fix he will be hard to contact and very very busy.....

In the meantime, those of you who have ordered the mod, feel free to contact me - either by pm or email for an update. I (literally) live around 2 corners from Unique Auto Sports. (If you want my mobile# - please pm me, I don't want to post it on the open site)

If Steve can;t get his systems back on line in the near future, he will be contacting me with a list of who has ordered so there will be no delay in getting the mods a/ shipped, b/installed. c/collected by yourselves. I can then co-ordinate with John at Unique.

Sorry for all the delays in this - the first few mods did not perform as expected.....plus+++ hopefully in a few weeks we should have a definite date when the air intake pipe will be ready for those interested.

Cheers
Tanya

Im pretty sure the pipeso n the gr, and the gpx are exatcly the same, the only reason mine was slightly smaller was because my cat was replaced with a smaller one when complianced, so im pretty sure thats why, i cant confirm this though so has anyone else compared the exhust fro mthe gr and gpx ??

Yes, does anyone know if there is a diference? This will matter a lot to us GR owners whether to go ahead with the Mod.

whats with the low hp at the wheels? 85KW at the wheels equates to around a 40% loss through the drivetrain!

Are these results plotted in shootout mode?

It was like at the auto saloon some FTO i heard got 60 KW at the wheels!

I think might hope onto a reliable dyno, i think i might go to Herrod in thomastown and see what KW reading i get.

stock auto mivec should get around 90, stock auto should get around 85-87
stock grs are usually around 75-78, and stock gx's are around 80-83
Im not sure what gs (4c ) pull, but i have seen lancers pull around 55kw, so i guess it would be around there.
Im not sure why ftos read soo low on the dyno, but what i have noticed (with my car) is it reaches about 80% of its power around 3-4k, which i guess is normal in most n/a cars in australia, but not when the car revs to 8k

Is it true that the later model FTO's (facelif) have 10HP more than the older model GRs....

Read at some website that the older GRs have 170HP whereas facelift model GRs have 180HP

What about older GRs compared to the newer GR's? Is there a difference in these? Btw, where did you read about the different cams?

So will shipping be $40 or $50 Steven?

Assuming shipping is $40 and taking into account the initial deposit of $200, I then take it that we would have to transfer an additional $240 into your account. Is that correct?

Do you want us to email our addresses to you?
