FACT - Not all car dealers advertise on carsales.com.au

FACT - I drove into the city the other day and saw 3 FTO's at car yards

FACT - If you try and sell your car to a dealer, they will give you nothing, they're in it for profit -not for your benefit

QUESTIONABLE - that you (me2) even own an FTO

People with genuinely good FTO's can wait for the right buyer. A serious buyer will appreciate a car that can be proven to be a good FTO. Sure - there are cheap FTO's out there - they've been thrashed to nearly the end of their life - so expect to pay some serious $$$$ to repair them - body/engine

Serious FTO enthusiasts do not continue to put down their cars - I think I mentioned in one of my other posts (replying to you bagging FTO's then as well if I recall) - that mayhaps a Hyundai is more your cup of tea, actually - I also saw a 2nd hand Falcon the other day, they wanted $500 for it - perhaps your mummy & daddy could give you an advance on your pocket money and you could buy that. At least the parts will be cheap.

FTO338 & Teania, I'm shocked and pissed off that a car I bought about 18 months ago for around $18K is now only worth about $13K if sold privately and about $7K if done as a trade-in, even though it's in good condition and has fairly low kms (white '96 manual GPX with around 85k).

Before buying this car I looked at prices, I looked both at car yards and private sales, I checked out "market value" in the car valuer books (e.g Red Book) and from insurance companies. This was all fairly consistant and showed that the FTO I bought was about right in terms of price and that the price of these cars had only been dropping slowly each year.

Now a year and a half later I'm looking to buy another car and I find that in the last 12 months the price of the FTO has plummeted more than it has ever before and I'm pissed off about that. Red Book values FTO's at around $9-$13K and many insurance companies value them at around $11-$14K.

I posted my original message to see if this was just a Melbourne thing or if other's were also experiencing this around the country. It appears to be the same around the country and it also appears that some people don't want to hear this - which I can kind of understand given how pissed off I am to learn about this.

Does the year make any difference though? Don't forget that a lot of members get their hands on either a 94/95 model as supposed to the latter models.

Yes we understand your point from the start, but what got lots of members upset is that you just keep repeating it, & worst you actually went & bagg someone's else FTO in the "Car For sales Section"

Is not like we have bad memory & need a weekly reminder.
