What about relocating the fuse box for air box space?
I can send you a decent length section of facelift harness.
Thanks for the offer Jim, but I'd rather not fiddle too much with the wiring side of things. Will make it easier when it all changes chassis lol.

I love how you think it's 99% finished
My car's not finished, drove it as a daily for years with the 6A13, but it'll never be bloody finished
There's
always something...

99% finished stage 1 of infinity stages
But yeah, definitely not "done"... Still want some real Recaros, was gonna pick up a cheap Galant box for future use but not sure if I'll have the cash now haha. Then there's the old silver FTO. Cars, amirite?

Looking good

Danke, danke.
I've had the car back properly since Friday evening now, a whole lot of things got tidied up on the suspension side of things which is good, and they managed to reverse fit the offset castor bushes so it's pulled the wheels back a bit. Still a couple degrees above stock but better for clearance whilst still maintaining the performance benefit.
As always there's a cacophony of interesting noises, although they seem to be much more pronounced at low speeds. Otherwise everything else appears to be running as normally as it can. Have oil pressure, it's getting up to temp but not overheating, the weird boost cut I think is just a product of coming off throttle too quickly (and the pedal is a bit sticky for the first couple cm or so), still builds and holds it fine.
Gave it a cursory scrub-up since the paint is farked anyway, but she looks alright for the camera

It's a hoot, great usable power and still handles as well as I remember, despite the extra weight up front.
I actually have no idea re: the seats

I can only assume they're the real deal as I don't imagine Tim would got them otherwise, and they're a lot more comfortable than the old reps that this car came with.

Well the little bastard decided she'd overheat today as karma for me believing it never would. Hot-ish day and sitting in traffic pushed the water temp to about 2/3 before I could pull over, which I had to do twice on the way home. Bit disconcerting considering the thermo fans are always on, but I wasn't too keen to see if they could actually pull the temps down with enough time. Might actually have to get a coolant temp gauge as well just so I have something a little more accurate than the stock one.
Made it to and survived All Japan Day 2019 though, so that's a plus.

Did you have bonnet popped? Surely showing off the motor!
Proper w.temp gauge definitely sounds like a good idea.

Hah yeah I did, this was just after we'd arrived.
I think so. Figuring it out atm cause I should probably get onto it fairly promptly.

Turns out my thermo fans are misbehaving, potentially what caused it to overheat the other day. Instead of being off to start with and turning on when the car gets hot, they're doing the opposite. They'll switch on as soon as you turn the key past accessories, but I noticed while it was idling that they randomly died and didn't come back on. If I turn the car off, and turn the key partway again they'll come on, but turn off as soon as the engine is actually running. Vectose reckons maybe the signals/relay are reversed on the ECU side of things as that's what they're connected to, sussing that out atm.
The über-rice AB style fake-carbon bonnet maybe seems to be helping when the car is actually moving, but it didn't really have too much issue with that before either, so hard to tell. Either way I've got an alloy china-rad on the way that's taller as well having a 50mm core, which a) hopefully fits, and b) solves that side of things. Also grabbing an in-hose temp sensor fitting and an additional VDO coolant gauge so I can actually see what the hell it's doing

Not sure about exactly how hooked up it is. Definitely isn't working as there's no refrigerant and also some of the connectors are broken.

Maybe the ac pressure switch is f**king with the fans? Be worthwhile hitting the relay and coolant temp sensors with a multi meter and make sure they are playing.

Gee, been a while here. Fan issue was just backwards signals probably due to lack of factory fan speed controller, haven't seen it climb past 100deg even with standard size rad in there. Then alternator carked it around the same time as it threw a CEL, started cutting out at W.O.T., hovering around and maybe slipping. Bunch of usual infuriating old import sh*t.
Booked in for a run on a dyno to see if it's the clutch or maybe in fact the injectors or just the ECU throwing a fit with all the big pipes. Can't tell if the cut is really a new development or if I just never had put my foot to the floor for long enough before.
