we have already had this discussion at work, im not overly concerned, the guy that *adjusted* the tappets is up for the costs, if the engine needs to be replaced, so be it, ill throw the extra coin in and get the 6a13
we are going to hone it, if its worthy of doing so, if not, i will have to get another engine / buy the 6a13tt thats for sale here.
also i cant see those pics

agree with Ben, that engine is now good for spares only lol!
I'll bet it was one of the washers off the nuts on either end of the intake runners. Those little nuts are a pita

well if the heads are stuffed, thats ok! i have the old engine with minty fresh heads
if the block is stuffed... thats only semi ok, means i have to drive down the road and pick up another block..
sigh...

..
i wont give up on the car

it just would be handy to have my integra on the road aswell.. as the fto is my daily
hopefully the integra will be out of the panel beaters in 6 days!

just about to post some pics of what me and Vectose ( Rob ) found in the engine
not going to bother even pulling this engine down. not worth it
me and rob both got metal thrown at us through the spark plug hole... bits of piston we assume lol, orrrrr whatever the fuzz fell down the intake.. still havnt worked that out
weve come to a conclusion, that my fto has eaten more engines in a time frame then any other fto in the world!
this afternoon, i went and got ANOTHER engine! and will be building one out of the 2 i have sitting here, ill be using the heads off the 1st engine, because they had NO overhead noise at all, and the new block, as i know its in good condition
so round 92348438 DING DING!

So Phil just called me up and was concerned that I was the one that f**ked the engine.
To clarify, it was not me.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.
Should have waited for the tappet master

The engine that washer fell down into was the one that was in the ute at the bonfire if im guessing correctly (onlyjust joined the dots - im a bit slow

....). It was a low mileage engine from ichibahn that was sold to me with 140K on the clock and it would have done less than 1km before it got taken out of the ute. Certainly sounded OK when in the ute. Slight tappet noise, but no more than is common in these engines. I wasnt getting the vibration in the ute (although that was a tiptronic box). I didnt replace anything on the engine when I put it in the ute (apart from fluids) as it was never going to do much in the way of mileage. Not that this really matters now I guess. Hope your luck improves........

Wouldn't have mattered Phil, you wouldn't have been the one putting the engine back together.

I was concerned

, I was about to come over and clip you behind the ears

I know that, I didn't want you to pay for the replacement engine when all you were doing was helping out a fellow member. I was just going to support you.
No offence intended to you Alex

none taken
no the person responsible is a work colleague of mine, he is a qualified mechanic, and in his defence, he may of completely rectified the tappet noise, (although we will never know ) he also went out of his way to help me pull apart the entire front end and replace just about everything that was wrong with it with us
it was his big headedness that cause this, it WAS A MISTAKE, and i dont intend on charging him anything for it, i just want him to help me rebuild the engine, and get it back in, i want time, not money. ive told him ill pay for what we need.

Lol, I guess I'm getting pretty lucky, third engine, and everything has only cost me 200 dollars so far
That's including the new F + R strut braces I acquired
With the new engine I also got a gearbox
