Wow. Danny, would you have pics, or a better description of how you sucured the wire under the car. . .dannyboyau wrote:i ran mine under the car and then drilled a hole in the floor of the boot
Also, i was thinking of drilling a hole through the firewall, as all the grmmets are way to small for me, I need to also push through a 10c sized oil temp sensor from the inside.

The problem that I found with most battery boxes, are that they are all too big! I haven't found a marine battery box, but all the ones in super cheap etc. are way to big, for like an Odyssey battery or something.
And you may think, get like some wood and put it in the box, but no, because there is limited space in the boot, especially if you want to put the box as close the the side. Well, that what i want, anyway.
Can any one say like a minumum battery requirement like CCA, aH for a deep cycle battery, to be placed in the boot? like with decent 160Amp cable etc? There are some small batteries going on ebay, but i think they may be too small...

Hm. i donno about others, but mine is simple.
1) It will make my engine bay more nicer.
2) Battery will stay cleaner
3) Intake Piping / CAI
With the intake piping, I have the UAS pipe, and that get's squished and slightly touches the supporting rod for the battery.
I'm planning to get an thin alluminum intake piping made up, mimiking and extending the UAS pipe further into the corner. (I have a freind in the business). This pipe wouldn't be able to bend, and the battery will get in the way.
Then I will probably try and get like an ARC typy intake box.... made up... but that's another challange...

i guess my motivation is similar to that of boris
1. free up room in the engine bay
2. makes installing ICE easier
3. another type of intake?
if you have a look at e36 and above BMW's they have the battery in the boot secured but not sealed. i guess manufaturers can get away with a lot more, eg HID (with out washers and levelers)
any more ideas about small battery boxes? i was thikning about a marine shop but they will probably rip me off big time.

Okay, thanks for that.
If your battery is getting on a bit, and you're primarily after the induction/space benefits, you could look at replacing it with a low profile Odyssey battery. A custom induction pipe will go right over the top of it.
Here are pics of my setup... From the top:

...and from the front:

I don't know the average cost of boot relocation, but weigh it up against the cost difference between a new standard battery and a$270-$290 Odyssey (the smallest one that is warranty-approved for using in cars).
The write-up for this entire installation is here:

Hope this helps!

I did read somewhere that the ideal situation was for a certain volume of air (as a percentage of engine displacement) to be present between the intake plenum and the filter. Apparently it improved throttle response, and is the reason why a pod filter isn't (often) stuck straight onto the throttle body, hehe.
Good luck with it!
