trust me i know what having a sleeper is like lol, i drive an awd cb lancer with a 4g63t in it... thats VERY sleeper..
But yeah i just like the 4g63's for the fact they are so proven, im not disagreeing that the 6a13tt isnt a great engine, just from my experience driving my car i can easily take on late model sti's and late model evos but this is on the street not at the strip mind you i was running 15 pound on a stock as a rock 63t with a 3 inch exhaust, but then again weight becomes a massive factor as my car weighs a tad under a ton... with me and a tank of fuel id be pushing close to a ton maybe 970 - 980... personally i have not been able to take my car to the strip but i did get a 13.3 time slip with the car when i bought it, and i also know for a fact that the 13.3 was run with a vr4 box that was absolutely stufffed because 2 weeks after i got the car it sh*t the 2nd gear synchro lol.

id love to come out for a cruise when my car is fixed, and especially now the mrs has bought that fto from crzy46 off of these forums. i'm a member on http://www.gsrcyborgclub.com (free plug lol) that website is full on early model lancer info, some of you may or may not find it interesting.

I definitely agree that as long as you got the money (and lots of it) you can do almost any thing, if it doesn't fit, it will be modified/adjusted/fabricated to fit.

But if it was up to me....4g63t with AWD conversion ftw!!
The 4g63t has been in production for around a decade (roughly) so there must be something right about it keeping it around.

My drag strip issue is my 60 ft time, they are always rather high because I can't get enough traction. Haven't had the cash for some semi slicks but I am sure they would help...

the rx7 is quite a beast in its own right, but lets examine the pros and cons of doing a swap (putting a rotary TT in a FTO)

Pros:
Rotary engines are uber smooth, even smoother than a v12.
they sound like a jet engine (just go to youtube and google mazda furai and u get what i mean)
the higher the revs, the more power u get, in a way similar to a GPX
light weight, way smaller than the v6, more room in your engine bay

Cons:
needs to top up engine oil every other week (depending on how u drive it)
unreliable, needs a rebuilt every 60,000km or less
cost of doing custom setup
initial costs of a motor
trouble finding a suitable gearbox
need to source new engine management system
upgrade brakes, suspension, tyres
torque steer (unless u spend more money converting it into AWD/RWD)
still have the problem of lousy bottom end torque, even with twin turbo, the smaller turbo doesnt spool til about 2500rpm, so if God forbid, u drive your car into a shopping centre like Broadway where the corners are tight and u cant figure if 1st or 2nd gear is better, its a real pain
most importantly, if u think a FTO drinks engine oil like a german drinking beer, then having a rotary will be like a russian drinking vodka (russian water)

Before making some high cost decisions, i normally make a list of pros and cons (also helps to justify to my partner, she's the CFO)
From what i can tell, unless u strike powerball or lotto, its gonna end up like a black hole and it'll just suck more and more money in, the only reward is a ultra smooth engine, maybe a 0-100km/h time about 1-1.5secs faster than a manual GPX, but would be very fustrating to drive in low speed conditions like traffic jams, in tight shopping centres...

There's no point in doing a rotary swap into an FTO, except for the sheer "awesomeness" of it .. for the cash you'd have to spend to do it .. unless you were doing ALL the work yourself (or most of it) you might as well go buy an RX-7 & throw in some FTO front & rear lights / bumpers etc & spend the money on it to make it look like an FTO instead

Definitely no point doing it if you're staying FWD though IMO.. gotta be RWD or nothing .. hell .. put the engine in the back of the car even ..

or go a Cossie 20B instead of the RX-7 13BREW

As long as you're not doing something to make the engine life extra shite .. like massive ports, or running stupidly high boost, then the engines should hold up fine... but if you are thrashing it that much, then you deserve to have to do a rebuild..
