But then again, a lot of Intergra drivers are scared to go me...
what have you done to your FTO? so nothing below 5.8L have beaten you? you must have not raced a lot of cars then.
more importantly, are you implying that you've beaten a Beemer M3 as well with your FTO? LOL....

those who thinks their NA Civics, CRXs and VTECS (except the type-R or S2000) are 'the sh*t' obviously spend too much time with their hands inside their pants - which is also partly the reason why Hondas and VTECs in general get picked on a lot in other forums coz they make king-sh*t out of themselves, hahaha... J/K.

To be fair though, some tuned Hondas out there are freaks, but those ppl usually let their car and timeslips do the talking, not with their mouths or act like keyboard warriors, LOL...

Im just stating facts hear remember i have an FTO as well.

I think your gettin a little off with that comment....
what FTO you comparin to, GX, GR, GPX?? auto or manual
Ive got a manual GPX which is stock(as far as i know, but will soon get a few breathing mods done to it) and ive beaten several cars which I thought would put mine to shame...ive even been up against a 180sx in a quick dual with wihch i was neck and neck(both off the line and through a roundabout)...

the fto, especially in the manual form, is a quicker than your making it out to be....i dont think its any turbo supra or anything, but it beats most riced up things on the road

They rack up 0-100 in mid to low 8s. Depends on driver and mods, but like the mivec engine a lot is squeezed out of the engine so extra power isn't easy to come by. They go fairly hard for a 1.3 litre 4.

im quoting every FTO, Ill compare it to a GP version R manual, someone scan their timesheet down the quarter with a better time than 15.2 which is only a time managed from a taxi.

well does a 180 have a better 0-100 and 400m time? Well i believe you beat him, but if the 180 is better speced, you beat him, not the car ;)

bagging fto

Post by scracy »

one day these dickheads on the fast 4s forum will realise that cars arent just about straight line speed, its about looks handling (not their own dicks) style etc. Granted the fto isnt the fastest car on the road but it certainly is one the best handling front wheel drives. Also how many of those 4 inch oops i mean 4 cylinder boys have a car that had a production run of around 16000 cars word wide? and due to limited production (by japanese standards) will probably gain in value. Would they bag a lotus elise? they arent quick either but they too are a great car that demands respect. How many civics have won japans car of the year? Do they realise that up until the honda s2000 the fto had the most powerfull normally aspirated 2 litre engine six or otherwise! ah ignorance is bliss.

How right you are scracy. When i bought my FTO all i wanted was a car that can rip v6 commo drivers and rice boy gsr lancers. Anyone else on the road is cool by me, but i dont mind cutting them up either

The guys at Motor do straight lines for a living. Get a equally new FTO GPvR manual and an equal capable driver, I think you'd find it would be a lot closer than you expected.

Those Honda cats are all talk. CRX? The moment you get next to them they slow down to look at your car. How can you even take them seriously??

Just had a look at the Motor Mag:

Ford XT (non-V8): 9.1kg/kw
FTO MIVEC:8.2kg/kw (rough approximation?)

given that you know your car well enough, what revs to dump clutch when to change, i see no reason why some normal person cant take the FTO to its full potential.

Also we are comparing it to a taxi.

the FTO guys in the UK, none have broken 15 down the quarter and to me that cant be called fast. The FTO is quick when compred to the right cars, but in this day and age theres lots faster than the FTO period. Thats why people bag the FTO being slow, it is slow when compared to the other imports.

Biased aside, this is my opinion only, i have an FTO, so i should be favoring the FTO, but from my unbiased opinion the FTO is bagged cause its not fast enough.

"Those Honda cats are all talk"

exactly how people in skylines/supras see us FTO owners.

well you should only be comparing to other other cars that were made the same yr as your FTO.
ie. Comparing a 94 FTO to a 2000 model Civic is stupid.. b/c the civic is newer with a newer engine....

in some ways i have to agree with Payaya - the FTO looks great and handles brilliantly, but only let down by lack of mumbo under the hood...

however bear in mind though that 147kw from a 2.0l V6 back in '94 was a monumental achievement and to its credit i think it's well suited to the sporty nature of the car - but as with any motoring purists, there is always a problem with 'not enough power', hahaha....

but rather than going as low as the forumers who bag, let's not make an ass out of ourselves by doing the same - instead we'll let our cars do the talking instead...

in a way it's good that they don't know much about our cars, because it gives us more exclusivity and unique presence on the road (until we unleash some fury with our right foot). Nothing beats the look of an ignorant moron who just got chopped by something that they 'think' they know a shitload about...

Good point TimmyD, what other N/A car in 94 could beat an FTO
that is non turbo and not an expensive M3 or $100 grnad hsv. I reckon an FTO would have even give stock 5.0 holdens a run

i swear, i have not lost to anyone so far when i drag.......xcept a fuken Ninja which demolished me (they do 12's wuartel mile). I've raced all the locals including a hsv. With all the mods in my car, it's pretty damn hard to beat. So any modded crx's......im here  .

it's a bit hard to compare to other car 'classes' coz the FTO is a FWD NA car n i done think its fair to compare to RWD or forced cars coz the drivetrain n setup is different...
so i guess beatin or getting close to a falcodore is an achievement, coz my god, they got so much torque! :!:

but in its 'class', i reckon it's hard 2 beat... and done 4get the looks :o

and just 4 the record, mi tip GPX left a mid 90's Fairmont in the dust the other day and phwoar, he almost has double the tourque that we do!

exactly in its class, the FTO performs pretty well i say, but too bad a lot of people compare our cars to the rear drive, high capacity drag machine.

you can't compare a 5L HSV with a ninja. the ninja does like 12's and the hsv does 14's. I luved the face he pulled when he was losing..... looked familiar to that.
