Daniel2019 wrote:Thanks for the advice guys. A proper flush of the system will get rid of the airlock correct?
Needs manual conversion.
Leave it auto if its a daily?
To get rid of the airlock you need to fill it up to the top with coolant (as in where your radiator cap is) and let the car idle without the cap on... keep it idling and keep topping it up as it will blow out all the air in the system
keep topping it up until it doesnt blow any more bubbles...
Google it for a better guide specific to your car lol

Nah, I know how to do that, I was just wondering if I need to flush it through the back of one of the hoses near the firewall like we used to do at work or if just letting it bubble out of the top was OK.
The problem with the auto is that it is incredibly underpowered, to the point where its close to un-driveable - going up hills is a bitch and some extra power would be nice. It does 60kw at the flywheel...
On the plus side it only has 130,000km on it

Ok.
You have seen that it's a Barina right?
What is it, 1.4, 1.6 if you have the 'upspec' though such a term barely fits that car.

Yeah just chuck some stickers on it, that should give it a bit more power...

Including the smashed in front end?
Im just saying, the little bit of extra power in the manual would have been nice. But I'm not complaining, it was free after all

Honestly I think it would be doing about 30-35kw at the wheels

Unsure if modded. (Yes, this is how bored I am)
Here is a 1.6 on the dyno.

It's modded. Definitely not a stock exhaust at the very least. Could have more but who knows...
Regardless, mine is only the 1.4, and it's the 5 door version, so extra weight as well as less displacement.. I think the missus' old mazda is quicker in all honesty

Try 44kw
Just be thankful you didn't get the 'City' model, with a heart pumping 34kws
As usual, you can blame archaic Australian emmsion laws for the 'light truck engines' that come in those cars - which are essentially an Opel. In the UK they came out turbo
