is that kit worth buying if im doing the gaskets anyway?

Not really no, as you wont need the head gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, crank seals etc
Just buy the rocker/tappet cover gaskets and whatever else thats leaking. Save yourself a lot of money that you don't need to spend

That's what I did
I used the rocker cover gaskets, spark plug seals, intake gasket....so I got my monies worth and I have exhaust gaskets, head gaskets, valve seals (149.99 ), cam/crank seals etc ready to go when required
If you buy all you need at once you get more value for your postage cost

yeah i just found the rc gasket and its only 15 euro, very cheap compared to that kit.
should i really be buying plug seals aswell? last time i changed plugs there was no oil on them, so i should be right yeah?

just checkedout, gaskets,tie rod ends,radiator cap,timing kit, and had to get those drilled brake disks as they are a bargain!! postage was only 65pounds for the lot.

last question. ive been quoted $300 to $380 at auto barn for them to do the timing belt stuff.
is that a rip? and i rekon they wouldnt have ever done any work with fto's.
would i be better off driving to sydney for $80 fuel and pay one of the members to do it?
just noticed a bursons shop that you guys mention abit, has opened up. do they do work? or just a parts shop?

Lol you can get autobarn to install a timing belt kit now?
Just take it to a good local mechanic. The FTO isnt some strange weird car that specific specialists have to work on carefully - anyone can work on it...
Bursons are a parts store only (i might be wrong though i didnt know autobarn went into being a workshop)

I know autobarn have fitters that install sound systems, alarms etc.
But didn't think they'd have a mechanic.

If they do then that is a good price to replace a timing belt. Especially since it's such a pain to do on the FTO.

yep auto barn would be the biggest garage in my area, they have an awsome dyno room, they hold a special dyno day and sound off's once a year 100's of cars come from all over nsw.
ive allwAys only gone to them for alignments and tyres though. looks like ill be going to em for the timing kit install aswell

hey guys just wondering if this is an area the rc gasket will be going when i replace?
thinking that this is where it should be leaking the most as below this is the transmission box which has the pools of oil on it. have degreased and cleaned this area then drove a heap today, oil has appeared again on the transmission but really doesnt seem to be coming from here, maybe a little but not enough.
just trying to workout where else

Well best bet is to replace it anyway, as it needs it, then rinse and repeat - if its still leaking you know theres something else at play, if not then you know you got it

NO! lol a rocker cover is not going to leak ALL the way down there. Its something else. Most likely on the gearbox. That would be pretty much oil absolutely PISSING out of the rocker covers to build up like that.

Looks like near the input and output sensors, could be leaking from there.

Is there any precautions / steps to removing the rocker cover and replacing the gasket?
And what's the go with gasket sealer, does it go on after putting in a new gasket or is just for sealing old ones?
