Sweet. Thanks a lot Ben. Sorry I am a noob, still learning about all these.
I'll drive down tomorrow and have a chat with Pete. Hopefully things will turn out well. BTW, how much did you paid for the HD clutch kit? Is it necessary to replace the clutch kit?

Yeah might as well do it since the car is apart. U have to do it some point later so save the trouble and money and do it with the MC

There's nothing wrong with the fking fork! And I blame Craig for convincing you that it was.
You cannot bend them.

Spoke to Pete from suzukitech today. he quoted me $990, takes about 2 days. I supply all the parts. He also mentioned he'll take a look at the clutch kit and tell me if i need to replace them. Very nice and friendly person. Thanks Ben.
What do you guys think about the price? Labour + parts = $1600/+-(excluding the HD clutch kit)
was hoping to get it done cheaper so I can save some money for the engine, so tell me what you guys think

Personally I think that's on the money.
Realistically it's a prick of a job, and out of there ordinary line of work, so yeah. seems on par.
In my opinion.

Thats a pretty good price I reckon. Considering most shops (Suzitech included) charge around 90 bucks an hour labour.
2 full days of 7.5hrs @ $90/hr = $1350. So you're getting a $360 odd dollar discount from normal rates.
He's a nice guy Pete, he'll look after you

It seems to me that unless your car is very special to you, it is almost better to sell it and buy an existing manual car...
Though I have fantasized about a manual conversion for a few years now, well ever since I was charged 2K to fix my auto box when it died on me 2 weeks after buying the car. Though that was a few years back now

Now's the time to ensure you have absolutely everything that's needed so it doesn't take longer than necessary.
Make a list, check it twice, Santa Clause, etc.

Cheers Ben. dont mind if you pass me the list as well. I got some info from the irish club FTO as follow:
"MANUAL GEARBOX
Abvious one but make sure you also get the following with it. Gear cable mounting bracket. Clutch Fork including the release bearing retainer clip.
Clutch pipe mounting bracket.
The engine mount brackets are the same on the tip and manual boxes so you will already have these.
You also need the engine mounting on top of the box as the tip one is different.
GEAR SELECTOR UNIT AND CABLES
Again an obvious one but make sure you get the gear knob and leather gaitor.
COMPLETE CLUTCH KIT
Do not use a previously fitted clutch and release bearing.
REVERSE LIGHT SWITCH and CONNECTOR
The switch is fitted to the top of the manual box, and you will need the relevant connector cut from a manual wiring harness. Yes you can work around this but it can be messy and possible water ingress afterwards.
CLUTCH/BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY UNIT
38mm HOLE SAW
This is need to bore the hole in the firewall to fitr the clutch servo unit.
CLUTCH SERVO, SLAVE CYLINDER and PIPING
Again make sure the piping and fluid cover is supplied. "

I know, I've thought about it but it won't be the same as I've had put in effort to make this car run better. Getting another FTO also is another risk. Better to deal with the devil i know then the devil I dont.

Blahaha... But they do wear out... Depends on how the box was treated... But had to do this to my Evo project...
As for the mechanic, I was going to recommend RICOL.. They have worked on more FTO's then you can count.. But are not in the west... Are located at Peakhurst
