how hot does a 6a12 get? i was watching one of the best motoring video's and this r32 gtr was geting 130c' hot..

Are most of you guys changing the oil yourselves?
If a mechanic does it, do you ever buy the oil and hand it to him for the service?
I just feel kinda guilty taking away his profits

I always get my mechanic to do it, & i pick my own oil. funny though i change my mum's car oil but not mine haahahahah

DIY... but it would be easier if I had smaller Japanese size hands to get to the bloody filter!

Haha the same thought was going through my head when was under the car for half an hour trying to get the bloody thing off. I also damaged an oil wrench in the process, that is now beyond repair.

haha, well i got big hands' but the filter is easy to get off??
theres only like one position that u can get the filter off.. but i think left hands are easier to use.. i think...

ive replaced my oil & filter twice in my fto-life...and both times(with the 1st being my 1st change in any car) were not that complex
removing the filter was relativly easy as well...maybe my hands are tiny

ive removed my filter heaps of times, the first time was hard though.
Get one of those cheapo k-mart oil filter removers. They consist of a metal band, then when turning the handle tightens the metal band. Its heaps easier to use than the normal ones. Perfect for the FTO.

If I remember correctly the location of the oil filter on the GR is much easier to get to, so those with GR's are probably wondering what we're going on about!

haha it isnt hard
step 1)buy oil, new oil filter(i think its a z4111 or something from ryco) and new sump plug washer(who knows what size, i just buy a 'mixed' pack and one always fits
)
step 2)jack up the car....use whatever means you feel safe with in terms of securing it, and place catch can/tray under sump plug
step 3)take one 17mm(i think thats the size) and undo sump plug, trying not to let it drop in said catch can/tray
step 4)wait......once oil drained out, move catch can/tray to under oil filter(pretty easy to find, and its more towards the front of the car, easy to access from under the car) and undo using various methods but i find a cheap oil filter remover works nicely...
step 5)wait while a little more oil drains out...
step 6) replace with new oil filter and put in new sump plug washer and tighten sump plug
step 6)lower car, fill with oil....
DONE

only hand tighten the oil filter
remoing oil when engine is warm is a good way of getting more of the oil out.
its so damn easy, always tighten the oil filter tighter than what the instructions say. I followed the instructions onces, oil filter came lose, oil went all over engine, exhuast manifold, causing smoke to come out of bonnet.
Put in 4L of oil, then check the oil after a while.
Usually its 4.3L of oil totaly capacity, including oil filter.

hey guys,
just tried Castrol 5w 30 .. and its soooo good.. well its quieter at least...
i was a bit worried with the 30 rating.... but i dunno, it just sounds soo much better than mobils 5w50..
It rrp is like $64... why is it expensive?
I bought it at $40 cos of the fathers day sales which is why i tried it..

80-100 degrees on the road.
120 degrees plus on the track!!!!!

any oil sounds better than mobil 1! mobile 1 is good but damn its sh*t to quiet down noisy lifters.
So far the best oil ive used for lifter noise to castrol magnatec!
i heard motol?? is the best to use?
anyone know where i can get this stuff from?

i use motul 6100 or 8100 (8100 before race days)... fantastic stuff and puts up with me driving the car very well
