Lucky? I would have thought the mechancial diff would be the better of the 2? Purely on the basis that it can distribute torque to the wheel with the most grip at a greater level than a viscous diff purely trying to match the speed of the 2 shafts. MD735332 used from Sep 1994 to Jan 1997.
MD770978 used from Feb 1997 to the end of production
You might be lucky, might be the later viscous type
I'm guessing mine is probably the viscous type, based purely on the fact my car is a September 97 build.
I might try and chase this up further to find out which is which with the part numbers though, purely for my own interest. Of course this still doesn't mean anything if it's an aftermarket LSD or a factory LSD fitted to a non LSD factory box (ie. a factory option on earlier GPX's).
