Hoping to make it again. Basically haven't touched anything since we finished, will see if I get it on the road before the new year.
Determined and/or stupid

I am rediscovering that

I'd rather not have to tip-toe around everywhere though.

You really struggle to operate a drill, don't you Beej?

I really struggle to operate myself on a day-to-day basis.

After a great deal of f**king around which is still not quite concluded, at least the rear calipers are finally rebuilt, they're all the same colour, and I finally have a firm brake pedal again. PSA for those needing to order a rear caliper piston, they don't come with the internals (brake adjuster spring clip & snap ring).

Made it to All Japan Day 2020 with some of the VR4 guys again.
Found out I'm losing coolant from a heater core pipe, which, although unfortunate, hopefully explains my intermittent overheating issues. Will bypass it, probably throw a new thermostat in for good measure, and see how it goes. Probably look into getting some ducting made inside the front bumper bar to actually funnel air through the intercooler and radiator.
With any luck I'll make it to bonfire but it is approaching rather quickly again
Otherwise on the vague to-do/want list is installing the GR cluster on its way from Vipfto; some wider tyres eventually; tint the sunroof reeeal dark; probably have to order a genuine brake piston as the shop still isn't convinced the aftermarket one will work (but it's not leaking yet so not a priority).
And mostly just drive it and try not to get a yellow sticker.

Cheers man.
Thanks to Vipfto for shipping me across a GR cluster I've been on the hunt for. So nice to not have blue dash lights (sorry Nick).

Sometimes I wonder if it was all a bit silly to do the 6A13 conversion. Maybe I would have been better off saving up and buying an FD instead.
But then when it's cool outside and the car is actually working like it should, and I wind it up in 3rd on a nice empty stretch of road, I think to myself: "f**k me, is this
only 152kw?"
The fact that so much untapped potential remains is kinda mind-boggling.
And it's amazing what a non-leaking coolant system does for the temperatures of said coolant, who woulda thunk it. Stayed under 100c even when giving it the beans so that's promising.

Not too much in the way of updates here. Split CV boot is an inconvenience I haven't dealt with yet. Have a whole new joint so might even just have that put in while it's out.
Sold the Volks because apparently market value is much higher than I was expecting lol.

Back on the Evo 8 Enkeis which I am now glad I put the better set of tyres on.

Such a beautiful car. Great work - and I must say, your picture-stories are a real help. I certainly have referenced it several times already as I ponder an engine build.

Thanks mate, Flickr almost did me in with its hosting changes, but I managed to keep all the important stuff intact haha.

Another day, another dyno... uh, day.
First time for the silver car with this engine, mostly to do another checkup and also see what difference, if any, the Mambatek CHRAs and Kinugawa actuators were going to make on a stock tune. Judging by the results below, I don't think it's going to be noticeable until boost is increased and its reflashed, but there were some small gains.

- boost - road speed.jpg (389.74 KiB) Viewed 8041 times

Compared to the last runs in the white car, boost is up a tiny bit, 0.5-1PSI, spool itself has been reduced, and it gained 5kw from 2750 to 4750 RPM. Peak power is pretty much unchanged.
Did a quick rip through the hills, even followed a nice black 991 GT2RS on the way home (kept up with a 911 *cough*)
Vectose is putting together a coil on plug kit and 3-port for me atm, won't need too much else for what I'm chasing.

Affectionately known as "slug" or "tin-can"

though I have been appreciating the mid-range torque out on our pretty low-speed hills roads of late. Most are signposted at 80kph, and with the drop off on some sections you'd have to be pretty confident in your tyres to get anywhere close to that!
Still contemplating changing or removing the resonator to give it more of that V6 warble that I like so much about the 6A12. I don't think it's the muffler, as I took that off for a laugh, and it sounded horribly doughy (although the exit being right above the control arm probably didn't help either). The volume is fine, the tone just needs a little tweaking.
Tbh I still want to find something to "build" (big emphasis on quotations) a 6A12 MIVEC for. Logically it would be most prudent to just leave one in an FTO, but I am a poor bastard and having a daily and two toys is a stretch, even if the idea of putting it in something lighter (rip Clint we miss you), is appealing.
