Tacho Install

Post by FtoSam »

Okay, a while back, i bought a new set of coloured dials off ebay... biggest mistake... the tacho is completely wrong... where 4000rpm used to be it says 6000 and 6000 says redline.... so yeh... i've decided i cbf fixing it so i bought a tacho from autobarn ( i hate em too but i had a $355 gift voucher).. so i bought tacho $295 and paid them to do it.. (the rest of voucher)
Anyway i am yet to book it in.. is there anything i should tell them?? i.e connect to specific wire etc???
i remember i had an el-cheapo tacho and i tried for ages to get it to work... no luck...

Its pretty simple to install yourself.... I hope you didnt pay too much to get it installed.. theres one wire for the revs (usually green), a black n red for power and another to the 12v light source..
Although... Im sure autobarns electricians know what they're doing.. All the best with it

well u wanna hear the magic of autobarn.. (by the way he paid $60 to get it installed since thats the rest of voucher)

I had speakers and all I needed them to do was to install them for me. 6x9s I had them in my magna and they sound crazy, people think I have a sub but I don't anyway..

I take it for installation since I got them taken out of my magna before.. they install it and do the sh*ttest job ever.. there's no bass AT ALL like literally.. stock excel speakers sounded better. I knew why it sounded shyt.. cos they didn't have enough around to to hold the speaker tight enough to produce the bass (dodge explanation but u no what i mean)
So I said wtf is this so I took it back, and they made a wooden platform and stuck the speakers in there.. still sounded shyt.. they go to me "oh man those speakers are just sh*t" and i said to em i had them before and they sounded great, now if u cant do it just give me my money back.

they wanted to charge me $50 extra to do it cos "my speakers were crap" .. well if they were crap why are they charging me $50?? cos if they wur crap it wouldnt be able to be "fixed"
anyway so i refuse to pay.. and demand they do it right so finally after 8 hours and 3 days of going there.. they finally did it properly..
they're hopeless..
I have to work - People on the dole depend on me.

why dont you just take it to an autoelectrician and get him to fix your tacho? probably just needs to be realigned which will cost you like $50

when you say colored dials, do you mean the complete dials, or just the round slips that go in? if its complete dials why dont u just put your stocko stuff back in and get some KMC dials or something hehe

LOL... sounds like you guys have had bad experinces with them.. I've always done all my auto electrical work myself, so guess i wouldnt know.. Although one would assume with a company that big you'd expect them to have qualified installers there..

You mean the needles are pointed on the wrong RPM? Why don't you just pull the needles off and align them yourself?
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
