my olds just bought a Manual Fto GPX for 6 grand (down from 12 coz the bloke was goin to war) and when i could finally take her for a spin i went to give her a good rev.......but...nothing...just started popping outta the exhaust (like a rev cut) at 6500 and wouldnt go any further??
i am stumped about this.....it has a mines tuned stock ECU if that makes a difference......
should always let the car warm up before you give it a hard time, just like doing a warm up when you playing a sport or you just might pull a muscle or in this case further in life your car will start blowing smoke or worse.
Ok, firstly u have to give it a 10 minute warm up before u can drive it (can be 5, up to u), BUT u have to remember that the engine oil isnt actually warm enough until u've been actually driving around for like 5-10 mins
if u thrash it if its not warm then your gonna fcuk up your car big time

the engine was basically hot when i put the new oil in so it woulda heated up the oil quite quickly
and also i had it running a couple of minutes before i went out anyway.....
i was driving quite docile for about 500 meters down the road too and had to wait for about 30 secs to actually get onto the road from my street.....plus i live in darwin so the temp would be right up anyway! it never gets cold enough to even use a choke up here in carbied cars!
but yeah! i was just a little worried bout the 6.5k limit!
so ill try it after a good stint of driving before i try get it past 6.5 again!
but just curiously....has this exact thing happened to anyone else?....which was my original question.....
thanks for putting up with these stupid questions!

Now remember, there are no stupid questions, just stupid people
haha jkz. to answer your question, well no it hasn't happened to, but I normally don't thrash it past 6500 much usually until ive been driving for like 10 mins, altho this morning i gave my car a 10 min warm up and after 5 mins of driving sumbody was trying 2 race past me so i pushed it to 7500 and no probs at all, i dunno about everybody else though

right underneath the inlet manifold on top of the block, but I don't think there will be anything wrong with it, have you tried going into mivec again.

cheers!
Yes. This same issue will happen to ALL of us on a cold engine. I know it probably feels like the engine would've been warm already, but it's definitely not. This is just a common fact with these Mivec engines.
mate its worth the effort!.....the front wheels lost grip in first when it got to mivec.....little bit of torque steer too!......these things are so fun to drive!!! i cant get over it! this is deffinately the next car im going to get once i get a bit sick of my galant VR4 powered nimbus!....im gonna start a collection of tough mitsis!....thats my life goal!...even if theres no fuel to run them ill still get them!
