Surely we have seen the top gear review of the SAAB turbo? For overtaking power, ie 100-160 kinda range - it is faster than a 911.

And that is pretty fast in my book!
there is no doubt SAABs are good cars -but ugly I was impressed and i have been in (as i said before) every model since their 99 version which came out way before i wa sborn I think.. They are generally low pressure turbos and have torque engines..infact it was SAAB that got the turbo to where it was today....as when they were still in the WRC they needed some more power from their FWD as everyone esle was going AWD. they really pioneered the turbo a long time ago.

but they are heavy...never going to beat me, but at 120-160 probably...all comes down to gearing really cos their max output isn't special. And they do go well over 140....I sat on 200 for 30min once...really built for europe. but a pointless measure of performance as our speed limit is 100...so acceleration is king in our world..

anyway, my brother has a R33, and he manage to get 0-100 around 6.3sec. Is that consider fast?? I thought a FTO can make it less than 7 seconds, is it right??

If so, does the 0.7 sec really makes so much difference??

Hmmm, maybe it does for a racer but not for normal driving i guess...
lol

forget 0-100...talk qmile. stock r33 is 14.4 while a stock FTO is around 15.5s. 1s is heaps.

but...spend 5-7k on your r33 and get a time down to 12.8 while spend the same on your fto and get it to 14.5 (if u lucky)

the FTO is a NA 2.0 L car. Its 12+ years old. Its not the quickest car but is def. a good car to drive. Speed in a straight line isnt everything.

My line will do mid 12s if I could drive it straight...but I love the FTO and love driving it it feels great driving around corners etc....and its as fast as most new sedans...just not the high performance ones.

what if we turbo boost FTO? will it still lose to a R33??

R33 redline at 7000 but FTO reds at 8000... doesnt the turbo in the low range RPM (3500-5500) and mivec at high range RPM (5500-8000) makes it faster than a normal single turbo car who doesnt only lag in the start and also during shifting gears?

I can tell you now, Yes even a turbo FTO, will lose to a half decent GTsT. What you said had been done to Mikey's old turbo FTO (The one that little sh8T lying through his ass & try to seel now) He spend close to 30k on it, just to get to that stage. Is a waste of money IMO.

After all that even i can keep up with it when its on low boost or worst at hot summer days, i can have very "meaningful' conversation side by side, so a GTsT can waste a turbo 6A12 Mivec turbo FTO for sure. 6A13 is a different story.

If you want a N/A with good handling that looks good, then stick to the FTO, but if you want a bit of speed and good handling, get yourself either a S2000, DC2R or DC5R.

If you after ultimate speed & handling, then EVO, Rexie and GTR. Fullstop.

how about this for a deal.

U mod your FTO with whatever u want.

Can we bet on this? I'm willing to put all my asset to bet that a GTsT will beat an FTO with the same amount of money spend on both.

lol lets have an FTO drag day and all bet...I bet with my new polish I will beat urs FTO388....I'm smoother now... lol

lawrencetlc as much as it may break your heart, FTOs arent the exactly the best cars to buy if your after speed, u can spend a couple of grand on a mod and it'll give your fto a 10kw boost, the same mod in a skyline will get u like 35kw if not more. u have to spend a shitload more to mod than a car that's made to be redlined and made to be modded, fto doesnt have a lot of potential speedwise, there's only so much u can do to it, but at most u'll probably only achieve like 120kw atw (at tops) without chuckin a turbo in there, and even if u did throw in a turbo u still wont be beating any standard rexis :?

i sorta used to think like u until what KJ said once about the mods thing, love it for it is!
