interior lights not working

i have a minor prob, i'm thinking it could just be a fuse well im hoping it's just a fuse but my interior lights in the guage panel, batt, volt meters arent working. everything else is fine like the lights which tells you which gear you're in head lights are fine. just the lights for the instruments arent coming on. any ideas? sorry dont know much bout electrical stuff

Maybe its the switch where the door is....

Maybe its the switch where the door is....

Nah that's not what he means, he's talking about the backlighting of the gauges, not the map lights under the rearview mirror that come on when you open the door.

Sounds like a blown fuse mate.

yeah, sounds like the fuse has blown. It's a 10 amp (red) fuse that is located near the accelerator.

yeah it was a fuse but the thing was that none of the fuses in the inside box were blown, i found a blown one in the engine bay, hmmmm interesting.

oh yeah, sorry. I got it confused with another fuse. There are spare fuses under the steering wheel

speaking of this.. mine's are really really dim.. all of them, and some places are so dim that u can make out the light but see nothing in the dark

Guys if your dash lights are dim then turn the dimmer swith to the right or left to make the dash lights brighter.

what i never new there was a dimmer switch lol... i tried to look for it but couldnt find one, so assumed there wasn't one

If your car was properly complied to Aus specs then there should be one

Could be anywhere thou, every car I see has it in a different spot!

Not in some GRs... I dont have fog lights. The wiring loom is there behind the blanking plate (which is where the switch should be...)

Speaking of dimmers, I know they need dimmers installed to pass compliance, but is there anything that says it has to stay ?

The reason I ask is the dimmer in my car was a dodgy install. The dial does stuff all, so Ive taken it out. Am I still legal ?

Usually its near the mirror controls.

Yeah, mine was on one of the blanks next to the mirror controls. Of course the blank was broken in the process, so the switch sort of hung there... But Ive taken both blanks out and made a new panel, thats why I asked about the dimmer, because I havent put it on my new panel, I figure, whats the point ?

I have now got my alarm LED, ECU error code button, An interior light switch, and footwell Neon control switch (switches between beating to music or coming on when the door is opened, or off)

I have a feeling its a legal requirement, but I seriously doubt you'd get pinged during a routine rego inspection for not having it.

The law was originally introduced due to country drivers pranging their cars on dark country roads, saying the glare on the screen caused by the dash lights was part of the problem... I dunno, I think its rediculous. I've think I've met 1 person in my entire life that uses it.

does everyone's dimmer switch just sit there and not actually fixed to anything? (mine's in one of the blanks next to the mirrow controls as well, and its just hanging there by the wires lol)
