Plasma vs LCD
I just got my tax return and i'm going to put that money to good use, buying a bigscreen tv.
Anyone know what is better? i always thought that plasma screens are a better quality tv but seeing that a 42" plasma screen costs about the same as a 32" LCD im now not so sure.
Any thoughts?

Plasma have better pictures & viewing angle.
LCD have a much longer life span, you might face a dead pixel problem down the track.
So that depends on what you want in a TV, life span or quality.

easiest rule of thumb
less than 40"...buy lcd
bigger than 40"...buy plasma
rare exceptions involve really bright rooms(plasma reflect more so lcd better) and for things like pc based still-ish images..
but plasma will give you better blacks/colours,viewing angle, and TECHNICALLY better useable life(i dont count replacing an lcd's backlight in this technicallity, you try replacing a tv's part in 5-10yrs...youll just end up buying a new tv in most cases)

Went through this last weekend - bought a 42" plasma and it is amazing. But seriously, either way you will be happy.
Decidin factor though - for less or same $$, you can get a bigger set with plasma!!
But, if you are going to run your PC into it, then seriously look at LCD.
But really, it's like choosing between Angelina Jolie and Jessica Simpson - pro's and cons either way, but you wouldn't say no to either.

havin a chat to a sales person today, they reckon the panasonic's need to have the same image on them for 3 days before burn in occurs. Sounds like bull to me. If you channel flick after a while does this stop the burn in occurring? I'm definitely keen for a 108cm rather than an 81cm. But i am worried about my xbox and ps2 being hooked up. Also during the Ashes the channel 9 symbol may get burned in
I really cannot decide lol. mmmmmmm 42 inches.

They are getting a lot better though. With a new, "brand name" plasma, they will last a lot better. But it is best to be careful within the furst 100 hours of usage apparently.
3 days would not be good - but you should be safe for quite a few hours really. Probably 10 hours or so and you will be fine. But if you are worried, all you would have to do is flick the screen off for a bit and then back on again.
Depends what you are going to do with it, and what you watch a lot of, and what your budget is. If money was no object for the TV (like $8000+) then there are some awesome 50 inch plus LCD's out there that are next gen screens and look amazing. But personally I like the picture of plasma more, less flashy, but more realistic with more overall depth.
Up to you - just go and look at a few, and see which picture you like the most, what size you want, and what your budget will be.
As I said, both great, both different, neither will disappoint.
