Painfully slow windscreen wipers

Post by Dras »

My previous car was a beautiful little hotted up 1.8 lancer and there was nothing I enjoyed more then a bit of controlled sliding in the wet. And with the handling of the lancer being as it was, this was not difficult to achieve at all  .

Now when I am driving my FTO and it starts rains I start to cry. Well not really but I really do not enjoy not being able to switch on my wipers with confidence.

On full pelt my wipers are about the same speed as the lancers were at the lower speed setting. On the intermittent setting the wipers just leave a blur. Are all FTO wipers this poor?

I have tried replacing the blades and I have even polished and Rain-X'ed my windshield without significant improvements.

Any suggestions are welcome.
