might be bye bye fto!

Post by frozenwaffles »

well guys...
don't know if you know the storey or not but my baby had a big drink of water after going through a puddle.
looks like she will probably be a write off since she is insured for not much more than what's is gonna cost to have her engine fully rebuilt with warranty.
its a sad feeling...not sure what to do if she gets written off...get another fto...but would have to be white facelift gpx or gpvr again...they are only fto I like...
or maybe get a 300zx or skyline...
there really arnt too many other cars I like the look of that are around $15000...

Make sure you can buy the salvage first thou  Check with your insurance company. If they wont let you buy it it will to auction, just find out where and when and bid on it there :D

sorry to hear it man.. hope its not a write off!!
well you could always buy the "uniquefto" or g_a_v and that'll leave you with enough money to get a good paintjob and a front bar from there's wouldn't be much out of the budget.
This option of course if it's a write off.. which i hope it's not :?

well there are two engines at just jap for less than $2000. no exchange either...
I found a gr motor on the goldcoast for $600 but no loom or ecu...
might be time for evo engine...
I guess i'll just have to wait for insurance company to decide what happens...this is assuming I can buy her back...but more problems arrise there as she is still classed as a write off...

Why not retract any insurance claims you put in & just DIY another engine in? Be a cheap option... mind you EVO motor would be nice... if you can find one for reasonable $$$

ya I agree. If your gonna need to spent big bucks...you might as well end up with something to be proud of...a decent turbo engine would be the order of the day! even if you get a GR engine and mod it hardcore with a turbo etc you could end up with a nice result.

Hey frozenwaffles,

i got my replacement engine for $1800 AUD from japimports in newcastle.

this only included engine, Auto Loom, no alternator, no starter motor.

Mine was a manual, so it was all plug n play.

I honestly think you should just replace your engine with 6a12 mivec with maybe ballancing the crank and shot penning of conrods, the money that you spend on a evo engine then later selling it, you wont see much return.

just replace your engine... your car would be worth 15+ as it is GPR and newer front.

well guys... I don't think you're gonna like this, but I think its time to jump ships. I love my fto's and think they are the best looking car ever (well GPvRs that is) but I want turbo! so a skyline is in order...
will let you know how the weeks proceedings go, but with some luck by next week i'll have my new car. hopefully you won't shun me as I still share the love and will one day have another fto, but for now I can only afford one car.
