You'll probably want a secondary restraint for the bonnet (eg pins), CF bonnets are fairly easy to have move around due to their light weight.

I believe Custom Carbon out your way (QLD) do ADR approved CF bonnets. Dunno if they have one for the FTO, but might be worth asking.

And btw, how's a cop going to ping you for your bonnet if they're behind you?

I don't have much luck with Cops out this way. I get pulled over at least once every two to three weeks for 'Random' checks. I don't even look dodge. :?

I've had 3 Yellow Stickers / Canaries / Defects already. I've owned the car for over 5 years now and have experienced some of the worst cops around. I've even been pulled over at 7:30am outside my place of work. The police actually SAT in my drivers seat and had his hands on my steering wheel asking me how I could afford this car.

well like somebody mentioned before, i think it was in that EOI GB post for CF bonnets, theres a law which allows CF bonnets to be made legal.
how exactly would they achieve this? can u buy a cf bonnet and something done to it to make it legal?
and when u say approved bonnets that wont be a defect, what do they have that makes them legal, i mean in the end they ARE cf after all..

ADR testing and approval. Not exactly for the cosumer. It involves crash impact and durability testing, submitted to be assessed against Australian standards.

so does this mean i can go to somebody who can custom make a "legal" cf bonnet, and won't charge me too much over the standard cost?

lol here we go again...
Bennoz wrote:CF & Fibreglass bonnets are illegal in NSW unless they were factory fitted.

Having said that they can be made legal with an engineering certificate saying that the bonnet complies with the Australian Design Regulation ADR69

OKay well i bought it... i know i should've waited but i'm an impulse buyer. anyway i rang around and it has to be engineered to be 100% legal... It has to be able to support the weight of a pedestrian in the event of a collision. and crumple in event of a collision (not shatter)...
because this is such a grey area, i am keeping my original bonnet handy. but i'll see how i go... if i have too many hassles i'll look at engineering.... cant wait... about a week away... i'll post up photos when she's on...
Also Bonnet pins are a MUST. So they'll go on as well... so excited... hope it doesn't become a magnet. living on gold coast there are much nicer cars for cops to pick on..

Head into the local drinking areas and see if any heroes want to test it's pedestrian support capabilities.
