Can't find the Engine Number on this FTO's engine.

Post by Hobbsie »

I love FTOs and i'm looking to buy one tommorow. its a 1995 FTO GR, tiptronic, DOHC 24 valve v6, etc. engine model 6A12.

I checked it out today and got the chassis number stamped into the car, plus the engine number/chassis number on the plate inside the engine bay.

Now I just need to check the engine identification number on the actual engine to make sure they match up. However I couldn't find it, and neither could the seller :(. Anyone know approximately where this number is located? it should be around 10 digits long, e.g. 6A12AP8308.

cheers :D

Its stamped on the engine block, just below the front head (on the gearbox end of the block.) Sorta between the oil fitler bracket & the head.

Red is a nice colour for the FTO imo. I think I might buy one and give the yellow to the misses
