phoenix Imports

Post by barfy »

Hi Guys,

As some of you know im currently looking at importing an EVO VII GT-A from japan. I came accross this business who are based im Melbourne and was wondering if anyone had heard of them ...

Ive spoke to the guy that runs it and he is a medical student who has contacts in japan and he will organise everything for me for $800. He sent me pics of an EVO last night which was selling for 1.3 million yen which works out to be around $16000 Aus and he said i would be end up paying around $24k all up. So this sounds to good to be true to me !

$24000 for an EVO VII GTA and yes that includes compliance.

Does this sound right to you guys ? His site is http://phoeniximportsaustralia.com/Index.htm

Check it out ....

Oh and by the way my car is up for sale for $20K ono here is the link

not sure..
be careful he is an individual rather than a company, hard to deal with if something goes wrong

Also, 11k for importing an FTO is not cheap I guess

Dude... if u can pull that off...

but be careful, just like someone said, it's an individual, it's not even a small business, and if he could import it then im sure he would charge a lot more to get for u that cheap, but I dunno what's been going on with u and him so I can't really tell u much but.. be careful!

and all the best with the sale of your car :)

1.3M is a pretty good price and your broker fee is competitive. What grade is the car?

2 tips, and you'll be right.
- make sure it's a GTA with a build date between 09/2000 and 12/2002 (or VIN range CT9A-0000001 to CT9A-0104144)
- check if a RAWS has compliance plates available for you

My recommendation: Stay away from that car

Grade R = accident repaired vehicle.

SEVS has strict limitations on crash damage, damage repair or corrosion that may affect the structural integrity of the vehicle. If it fails to meet these requirements it must be re-exported or destroyed.

I had a look at the guy's website and it's pretty typical setup for an import broker. I suggest you read Q8 in his FAQ about auction grades.

Those VIN range / date = the only EVO VIIs that can be imported under SEVS.

Just hold on, the right car will turn up sooner or later. I've imported several cars for me + family in the last three years, and going through it again at the moment, looking for my next car. More than happy to give you detailed advice if you PM me your email :D [/i]

Well without casting dispersions on this phoenix imports bloke - according to the RAWS search from DOTARS, 'RAW PERFORMANCE IMPORTS' (Andrew Docker) is not currently authorised to comply Evo VIIs.

The process is exactly the same no matter where you are importing from.

The only difference is for personal imports (cars which you have owned overseas for at least 12 months). If you want a personal import from Japan you need a bit more documentation than if it was from another country.

Your friend has no idea. That is incorrect.
