but technically, aren't 18" rims defects on FTOs since the stock rims are 16" and u can only go 1" up.
but its real rare to get defected for that unless the cops have a "defect every modified car" picnic day.
so with the CF defect, are they real strict about it, or easy going like the rim issue?
have you been defected before? better yet have you been in an accident and the insurance company has voided your claim as your car was unsafe?

don't take the word of someone on the forum. check the rules and make an informed decission.

Somebody just told me with a lot of confidence so I just wanted to verify. I'll definately make sure of this before I do make a decision, thanks :D

yea carbon fibre is defect because of impact inssues
like cops can argue when u hit front end the bonnet doesnt bend like plastic and might explod in a million pieces all over the place and might hurt pedestrian
with fibreglass, its definitely still defect but because its painted they can hardly tell unless they knock on it.
but with CF bonnets, its a BIG "defect me" because its so obvious
past ride : FTO gpx with lots of bling bling
Current ride: EVO 8 with the MOST CARBON IN AUSTRALIA....206KW AT ALL WHEELS

I agree but know many people with CF bonnets and have never had any issues...just always keep you old one incase and sawp them back later..

there was an article in Fast4s a while back about this. Its all about pedesrian safety...I might try and dig it out...cos they guy who write it is form the RTA aparently.

CF & Fibreglass bonnets are illegal in NSW unless they were factory fitted.

Having said that they can be made legal with an engineering certificate saying that the bonnet complies with the Australian Design Regulation ADR69.
