I love it when crooks get arrested.

How was it determined that your alarm / immobiliser wasn't activated? You can identify the parties at fault, which will be of help when facing insurance.

In my brother's case (nearly similar scenario), of the three people caught breaking into his car: 1 wasn't charged, 1 was a minor and given a warning, the third given a suspended sentence and good behaviour bond.

Not that it's much help right now - but some alarms activate themselves automatically (after a preset delay). Brant & Black Widow do.

Are you sure the alarm and immobiliser were off? Smart car thieves are pretty good at disarming alarms and immobilisers....

Hmmm it may have been on and activated itself, apparently i have a self arming one. But i doubt it.

How hard is it to hotwire an FTO?

At least they caught the bastards & your insurance should pay up since there is a police report on this.

As long as the guy know what his doing, any car can be break into, can i ask what sort of alarm you had on your car?
