There are two fuel filter btw, one at the engine bay, one near the fuel pump.
ok which one have we been talking about and which one do we replace? or both??
I'll do both if i was you. Don't remember the price but you can always try this little button -----> up the top instead

ok fuel filter has been purchased and I will change it 2nite...or tomorrow. i will do a guide (hopefully) although its not too hard...although access lookos like a bitch...see how that goes...
also i found a 17mm king chrome plug socket that very very thin walls...it might be perfect...not sur euntil i try. Just need a new manifold gasket before I do that...just in case.
There is basically no spark plug tool for the damn fto. normal tube spanners are too short. I managed to find a tool that was thin...but not think enuf. Took it to my dads and we got on his lathe and with a file get it down nice...
SO eventaully the spark plusg were changed! yay. Changed the inlet. man. gasket too for the fun of it although it seemed in ok condition.
Intresting to note my old plugs (only done like 10k) were in perfect condition so i'm confident of my A/F mixture is spot on...whihc it looked like on the dyno...although its still a stock eco so has some crapola patches...
Fuel Filter...well wtf that took me most of the time - fukcing gheyest position ever. But eventually i worked it out and got it do after a few choice "f&^k You you f&ckin c*&^ I got through it and off i went.
Damn car is def. running much better. Tomorrow I'm doing the Oil again with some Redline 5W-30...wanna give this a go.
Also I had my suspension setup checked after my new springs and shockers have been installed. We founf the left over noises were form a BENT REAR SWAY BAR bracket which was totally in bad position. I reckon its been like this for a while...possible before I bought it...also replaced the drop link - sway bar bolts (well just fixed them up actually) and noises gone...cost not much.
Now for the front strut bar...took the damne thing off...why?? cos its totally crap...why? making heaps of noise. why? cos its cheap an nasty. ALways buy one with proper bushings etc and not just a bolt! it makes heapos of bad noises...I took it off and not noise FTO is in town!
still going but getting it into decent condition now.
I like what your doing. I think i'll be doing the same. The noises are realling shittin me. and i think most of the things in there needed replacing years ago.
So whats the go with the 2 fuel filter thing? Can someone explain.
And keep us updated on what else your doing. I want to copy. That way you can go through all the sh*t to work out how to do it for me

I think there are 2 fuel filters like in most cars - one close to the tank and a fine one in the engine bay...thats the one ppl always replace...forget the other one!
Next is some Redline oils..maybe get it today...then investigate extractors and downpipe again...probbaly fit these myself this time around.
Boykit ready to go...just need my other car back...Its the bOZZ speed front and DC sides...will look sweet in black...my guy just never calls me back!!
i think (reading many posts on this) ppl are talking abuot a mesh type filter on the tank (or close to it) I don't think its a filter in the traditional sense but a type nevertheless.
anyway no doubt the one in the engine bay is the one to replace...I'M gonna post some pics of mine cut in half soon...then u can see why u need to do it!
Ahh yes, well there is a mesh gauze type end on the fuel pump pickup. Its easy enough to get at, just remove the rear seat & there's a cap that unbolts & gives you access to it.
Ahh i will just worry about the normal filter then.
How often should the gearbox oil be replaced? And if you do it, post a how to for me and cost of oil and stuff would be cool.
I'm gonna replace fuel and oil filters and spark plugs, engine oil and adjust tappets next weekend. Also polishing intake manifold while its off.
Then taking it to a mechanic(joe n ricks) and getting them to fix my oil leak i've had since i got the car 2 yrs ago. Costing about $500 i think.
What else should i get them to do. Check tune?
Background:
95 GPX manual
170 000kms
100 000km service done at 137 000
Also while i'm asking questions. When i'm driving slowly in first (like in a carpark or something) the car sometimes randomly does a little bunny hop thing(revs drop and car jolts forward, kinda like if you quickly hit the brake and let it go then keep driving).
Is this normal? what causes it?
I remember reading something about a dead spot in the rev range. The only way i can stop it from happening is by holding the clutch in a bit and have the revs sitting higher.

could be any number of things.. Replace your plugs and fule filter and go from there.
Mine was jerky at low revs..until this weekend when i did exactly those two things! now it smooh as...
